I thought he might be her uncle!! :DD
That means she must have gotten hr copycat mage thing from her mom's side which I hadn't thought about
Lol she's definitely whiney and I can see why people find it annoying
But it's honestly a shift in her character to kind of show how stress free her life is now compared to before when she was dealing with all the life and death stuff all the time
Also I think it's funny the people bring up her past studying to complain about why she's whining but she definitely whined back then too (whining about studying has been pretty consistent throughout the story I think, especially when it comes to math . . . So maybe my other point doesn't really stand as well)
She enjoyed literature and social studies but despised math if I remember right
Anywho, I hope she chooses to stick with the treasury job, at least until things stabilize, out of loyalty to the overburdened workers. I hope she stays long enough that the emperor regrets assigning her the task cuz she has no time for him anymore cuz that's just the kinda petty drama the feel right for side stories
(Still mad about the complete lack of baby/parenting content tho)
You can't just magically cure the trauma of the early chapters!! (╬ ̄Д ̄)
*wholesome bathtub extra* my heart- Q.Q<3
The author's note at the end describing Cyril as have "dark skin" . . .
Dark skin????
That man is no darker than my palm
I wanna just say that Zeus is a prick as per usual but ig they're putting a "grieving" spin on him in this story so I can't quite condemn him yet
He's on thin ice tho ( ≖︵≖)
I was actually kind of excited for her baby to be born but in the end was ultimately disappointed . . . There was an attempt made to show the depth of love that she felt for her baby and how that connected her to her mother, but the baby felt all but forgotten or more like an object that a precious being even right after she had given birth.
Ideally, a baby actually shouldn't leave their mother's side right after birthing and should actually be allowed to find their mother's breast and immediately start nursing. This is pretty important developmentally and should and can take priority before even cutting the umbilical chord or cleaning the baby. There are exceptions of course if the baby needs medical attention, but other than that, this is one of the healthiest labor progressions. (Tho it's generally overlooked especially in hospital settings)
Anyway, I wasn't even too bothered by the fact that they took the baby away, but more so that she just wasn't even looking for her baby right after giving birth which I feel like is the natural reaction when you pop out a baby that you've been waiting for for 9 months (if you wanted it in the first place that is)
She seemed too busy being romantic with her husband which makes me question whether there's really room in their relationship for a child, and also based on the jealousy expressed by her husband (towards a literal newborn) I'd probably say that no there isn't
I've been enjoying this story ofc and it's probably one of my favorites, I was just really looking forward to this aspect and I just felt like it really fell flat emotionally :
Idk it might be a cultural difference but I feel like it's way more normal to just be like "oh my sister 's in town, so I'll probably be busy for a while until she leaves"
Instead of being like "oh yeah gotta go meet with uuhhh . . . . Someone." And then never explain why you're so busy meeting with this other person that you won't even name
I'm not really upset about this kind of cliche tho, I just think it's really silly lol
She's written so well, imo <333
Even tho she's been advocating for healthier standards for young girls and women, she's shown to still be susceptible to the same toxic patterns of thoughts which is so real and relatable
They're an imperfect couple that have their differences and their own preferences but they're working hard to be together and growing and that's why I love this couple so much q.q<3
It seems like when a bottom is always pushing for sex, he's seen as insensitive, even when he's respecting his partner's boundaries but when it's the top, it's just typical yaoi at that point and no one bats an eye even if he's being forceful or coercive
I was really hoping we were moving in a positive direction communication wise but Riftan is still being so dismissive of Maxi that I'm actually getting irritated
Omfg
I swear every comic I read is just full of negative comments and it's really starting to fuck with my head . . .
These new developments really don't feel like just unnecessary drama, its addressing real, modern issues through this fictional lense and it's doing it really well. It was the same with the sexual assault case with the king's first wife. Now it's addressing body image and specifically how it relates to our main character and the original Abigail's childhood and it giving so much insight to the past behaviours of the character, making them more 3D. This comic is doing the same thing it's been doing from the beginning and I'm just sooooo here for it and I love it, and it feels like the people complaining about drama just want a very light read with two-dimensional, flat characters that'll just make them feel good (which is totally fine ofc, but this just isn't that story, come back to this when you're in the mood and can keep up with the vibes, and maybe reread the chapters all together, cuz I know that reading them update to update can make things feel drawn out and poorly paced)
Honestly, these new developments hurt my heart but it just makes me more eager for a resolution to the arc and their eventual happy relationship and that's because I'm here in the story and not looking for it to be something it's not.
