This is only my opinion... (●'◡'●)ノ But I don´t agree that you have to see him as a "boy" to fall in love (without saying that isn´t considered homosexuality or bisexuality(≧∀≦)), that more than "love" is the awareness that now your body and the bodies of others, are fit for sexual intercourse ⁄(⁄ ⁄·⁄ω⁄·⁄ ⁄)⁄ . That "attraction" is more sexual than romantic, and at that age hormones make both boys and girls go crazy about sex (More to boys). At that age it is very easy to confuse "love" with "sexual attraction", although there are also loves that begin with sexual attractionლ(´ڡ`ლ).
What's more, the old shojos comics said that you could only feel sexual desire for the person you loved. ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭
Without speaking, men and women can be friends...(๑•ㅂ•)و✧ ε=ε=(ノ≧∇≦)ノ And of course you can fall in love with your friends (There are love that begins before being a "Woman" or a "Man")
I don´t like it when the BL despise femininity, or women ...
I highly doubt it was actually trying to despite women or femininity, considering the mangaka herself is a woman if anything it just shows off how our society works. Nowadays being a guy who likes pink or likes to create handcrafted stuff will be called homo by most people. PS: Your comment sounds awfully butthurt.
Projecting an actual cultural issue into a BL manga is not a very valid point to dislike it (Mangaka wasn't trying to offend women but practically only pointed out how it works in society). I also never directly said being a woman anyhow excuses the fact there might be or might not be /internalized/ misogyny.
Yeah, actually it IS a very valid reason to dislike a manga, after all, most everybody knows how people feel about men doing feminine things by now, the manga never made the social statement that doing feminine things is good because it actually showed how one can be MASCULINE and still do feminine things (so, actually, it did the OPPOSITE. Oops?) AND it's cliched ESPECIALLY when the author could have avoided ramming that point into our brains, yet AGAIN, and still created an enjoyable manga, because they already HAD a point that the whole manga could turn on WITHOUT including the misogynistic theme. OOPS?
But that's not even what the OP, to whom you were responding with YOUR original point, said. They were simply stating that they don't like it when BL manga includes things like that. They never directly said it was the only thing but you pounced on someone else when they CORRECTLY extrapolated what you were trying to say from what you, YOURSELF, claimed to have indirectly said. So, funny, you seem to be accusing other people of not reading what you post but you're the one who is doing that very thing, yourself. *You* ALSO seem rather butthurt that people are taking misogyny seriously rather than ignoring it like the mainstream, INCLUDING yourself, would like them to do.
Oh shit, breathe it out. I don't want you get seizure out of this, darling. Actually I'm far from butthurt (I apologize, from the amount of caps lock it was the only point I managed to read fully well, since as you said, I do not read the comments whole.) more likely amusing myself over the internet as many other people do as I truly enjoy triggering people online. Yes, funny; ha ha. Wait, hold on. I'm butthurt from people taking misogyny seriously? No. I don't give a flying damn about it. I'm not a person that floats around cyberspace and defends weak souls and the right opinions because as we all know, if it came to real life, we all would be quiet and only weakly stutter if anything (probably just sit behind TV and curse at the news) than voice out the same opinions we defended before. So, hey, hey whoever wrote that comment; I'm just a weak human like everyone that doesn't do shit about anything in particular and thanks to whom this world is slowly going to garbage. ╮(╯▽╰)╭
I won´t deny that I liked it, it has an interesting history, charming characters, and to be based on Japanese society fairly gender equality ...
BUT...
...What I did not like is that they surrender easily to gender prejudices, regardless of whether it is true or false. Because there will always be weaker or stronger people, both physically and mentally, regardless of gender.
But they assume that girls are ALWAYS weaker, and that they should not even try, just to be content with a happy and easy life of skirts and love. And what bothers me the most is that they doesn´t understand the true meaning of sexual identity (Or at least I think so).
Currently the only person who has the right to decide your own gender, and your tastes is the same (both in this manga and in real life), but in this manga surrendered to everything. If you do not like your gender, you can have surgery to change it, but the decision you have to take it for yourself, not the others for you.
And another thing I hate, is that since now you are a girl you should be interested in the boys, and vicebersa ... For these things I prefer the yuri and yaoi, the shoujos; Always use the excuse of "I love you as a man" and vice-president. So it does not matter what a person is, as long as it is your opposite gender is what it means. And what if the gender of that person changed, would you stop loving it?
Okay, I'm missing the point, what bothers me is that I like this manga, but that manga is so lightly taken on topics as sexual identity, sexual orientation, love, and submission to social prejudices.
Now it is harder to change gender, and people try harder, of course everyone would be happier if they surrender (︶︿︶)=凸, so there would be no problems, but ... It would betray yourself and end up doing a lot more damage.
In that age I think many thinks, like mangas, anime, Why i don´t have friends?, Why my classmates are so mean with me?, What is yaoi and yuri? maybe is interesting i going to see... (〜 ̄△ ̄)〜
About my sexual identity, and my genre, well... even when I was a child (6-12), I had many friends girls and boys for the same, and I like football and stuffed animals... I like trousers and skirts... And my fathers are very free minds... And I came out with a strong build, and I liked to run, but I went to the theater as an after-school activity (I still liked)...
I think I grew up pretty neutral for this gender identities. Honestly, I didn´t give a damn (and I still don´t care) if they confused me for a boy or a girl. Total, you tell them and misunderstanding fixed. I was still me.
(And don´t worry, I graduated some time ago, and I have many friends both inside and outside the Internet)
Maybe I'm a little impatient, but at this stage society or people will never change ...
So I have the hope that even if they are born in a certain society, and they are raised in a certain way ... They can grow and become whatever they want.
Even if it's hard ...
That is why I am exasperated by the end of "just accept society and you will have a more peaceful and happy life."
To the question of whether the girl doesnt respect herself too much for going naked without being ashamed, I would like to say to everyone:
Honestly, I think the girl respects herself but for her it isn´t embarrassing to be naked, except with the person who likes her (sexual candidate).
What's more, I would like to say that there has always been the idea that a woman's body (and a few embarrassing men included) is somehow embarrassing in sight, and they have to cover it, because she ALWAYS tempts toward sex, while the naked body of a man isn´t embarrassing (except his penis) ... The sexual organs is what is considered embarrassing to show for both men and women (By the way, breasts shouldn´t be considered as a sexual organ, they only serve to feed the children with milk, but I will not deny that the nipples are an erogenous point, but only women have to cover it and men also have nipples), and the role of women throughout history has always been seen with the sole purpose of sex and raising children, for society a woman who isn´t ashamed of her nakedness is a woman who has sex easily, which is well seen for men, but is very bad sight for women (Sadly, even today).
A good example is Arabia, the point of view of women obligate them to consider themselves as something embarrassing that they must always be covered.
That is one of the general teachings of the society in which we live today, whether it is true or not, that depends on each person.
I am not against covering your body, as to show it, each person has the right to do whatever they wants. The problem is created, when it does´t match the ideals of other people.

The best end in a shoujo!!!
