Blame!
Po_and_Dong: "To put it simply, there is a reason Blame is such a renowned cult hit. Its art style is both captivating and horrifying, its story extremely minimal, its atmosphere thick as syrup, and with it Blame has always been seen as a modern classic of cyberpunk and experimental manga. If you are in for something strange and off the beaten path then you will surely enjoy this bizarre and complex piece of cheese." I couldn't have put it better myself.
Jackals
Criminals, contract killers, humongous blades and a city of menace. There is simply never enough room for hitmen, unscrupulous cops and two mafia gangs in a small town. As chaotic as it already is, the town is soon drenched in even more blood, violence and corruption. This is an action series that will douse you with well-drawn fight scenes, page after page of solid artwork and the, uh, occasional flying body part... ❦︎21
Akai Mi Hajiketa
So quaintly told that each story evokes much nostalgia. Chapter 5 is especially awesome.
Detroit Metal City
Giddy with dreams, Negishi Souichi moves to Tokyo wanting to join a chic pop band and write songs about life and romance. Five years later, he is now a vocalist for the tremendously popular death metal band Detroit Metal City. As he continues to yearn for world peace and Kahimi Karie's music, D.M.C's poster boy will have to go on writing songs about hell, chaos and dismemberment. Read on as he hilariously tries to deal with crazed fans and situations far too much for his timid heart to handle. ❦︎ NOTE: Mentions (or more specifically, questionable songs) of parricide, rape and various topics that may be unsettling for some readers. But if you're one to roll with everything, you'll easily find this exceptionally droll...
Isekai Izakaya "Nobu"
❦︎72 It is not a gourmet story where the chef and or an employee is the focus. Rather, it is the customers who are the driving force behind this flavourful series. Their striking conversations let you in unto their world....and part of their lives. This manga is a real treat.
07 Ghost
They all had such unbelievably convoluted circumstances that I found myself wishing for one of them to have a (even if only marginally) bland backstory. What a ride!
Hotel Metsäpeura e Youkoso
◆[ 26 ] Despite being first serialized in 2020, it evokes an ambience similar to that of a pre-2000s manga. And it's simply wondrous.. I fell in love with the first chapter..
Tenohira no Netsu wo
A duo dynamic we don't see much of. All too often we are given a "spirited go-getter and a blasé rival (who so happens to be an eccentric)". Tenohira no Netsu wo however is starred by an earnest novice and a famed genius who proves to be a lively one as opposed to what his reputation suggests. These two excitable characters had a charm that radiated through the pages.
Dr Frost
Unputdownable!! Immersive, despite loads of information being put forward. It's amazing. Would recommend.
