Yaoi is known for fetishizing gay men/relationships. I might sound ignorant for asking this but why is that bad? Why is having this fetish bad? I'm assuming it's thoughts people have in their heads, but as long as others aren't harmed, it should be fine?

basically, in the long ass post, this girl and her friends were shipping their two guy classmates together. they even imagined them having sex and all. the person took a pic of the guys being close to each other. unfortunately for her, she got caught by one of the guys. the guy made her explain which she did but she made a lie at the end saying, 'i was made to it.' ofc the guy got mad and told her off, maybe harshly, who knows

i’m curious bc i know this person who has completely different views than i do and they recently posted about how different political views doesn’t mean mean we still can’t be friends but their views in general (not just political but also on issues like racism etc.) are way too different to mine. i just wanted to know if it’s bad to drop friendships/relationships based on different views since i know everyone is entitled to their own beliefs and such

Here's the thing, no one is denying that it's fictional. Let's get that out of the way right now. Unless that shit says "based on a true story" on the front, there's no reason to assume otherwise.

But the issue is that we have a bunch of straight girls deciding that a medium depicting gay people isn't affecting anyone. Because apparently they're the authority on the matter, and not the people depicted in said mediums.

When you say "it's just fiction, it doesn't affect reality", you don't get to make that claim that for everyone. The most you can say is it's not affecting YOUR reality, because it's literally not. At all. Which I'm more than happy for you that it's not, I really truly am. I and every other lgbt person on this site would love to say the same, believe me.

But you don't get to decide for a completely different demographic of people what does and doesn't have real-life consequences for them. That is not your place, not your call to make.

If you wanna make that claim about shoujo, or if you wanna make that claim about hentai, then by all means make that claim. Tell us your grievances and if people have any shred of decency they'll listen and try to be part of the solution. But ya'll don't do that for us, and you really need to start.

By no means am I saying you shouldn't read yaoi. But what I am saying is that ya'll need to stop trying to justify the problems when we present them to you, or claim that they aren't actually problems at all, or that we're just blowing things out of proportion, or that "yaoi is for straight people anyways". You've been shutting people down every damn time for YEARS and it cannot continue any longer.

Today, I tried self harming and it didn't hurt or bleed sadly but then I realised what I was doing. Self harming is wrong and idk why I did that even though I know there's nothing wrong with me (I think). Now I am confused. My life isn't bad and I think I'm happy. I didn't have a hard time today (I think), I was just really nervous about a family gathering. What does this mean? My personal opinion, I hate that storyline/plot so so SO much. Especially when it’s fat to everyone wants her she’s so hot, it makes me cringe. I used to really like kiss him not me until I noticed how incredibly toxic it was. Anyone else feel that the quality of korean yaoi manhwa rn is going downhill? Many promising starts and then both plot and art go downhill from there and tend to end of unfinished or unresolved notes. Thoughts and reasons?

Imo this is partly attributed to the distribution of webtoons, in the format where one chapter is much shorter than a typical manga, and most operate in a pay per chapter state. This makes each chapter kinda clickbaity at times so you'll pay more and buy more. Hence dragging out the plot and ruining pacing.

Also is there a lack of traditional editors like in typical manga where the mangaka reviews the flow, storyline and plot before publishing?
