I'm really enjoying that this omegaverse has less than the usual social angst and that for the most part focuses on Haruki and Rei.
But what I like most about Haruki is his goals and ambitions in life that he has despite everything against him. I'll be so disappointed if he just gives that up to become a pair with Rei. And I have yet to see Rei understand that or address the issue. It could be because they're young or just a mismatched pair. Since it's fiction I hope Haruki gets it all and a HEA.
Our hero Ivan got caught. But is it just because of the uniform? Ivan never denied recently having been in the army, so it would be natural for him still to have a uniform. My guess is that there's a leak inside the army and Edward knew he was coming as a spy. Perhaps even the whole vial/bio-weapon thing is a way for Edward to lure Ivan to come to him.
I really think this has a great premise, and I can't wait to see how the story unfolds. I don't know if it was something in how it was translated or just a rather quirky and cryptic way of doing dialogue in the original, but I found much of the first chapter difficult to follow and confusing as to what precisely was going on.
I'm enjoying this I'll admit, and I'm rooting for Haruki to still achieve his goals despite everything. But there is a big BUT. First why does the uke so often think that the seme someway making fun of him etc. when he confesses for no real reason? Second, Reo shows an absolute lack of understanding of what Haruki wants in life, what he's been working hard for and his goals. Does Reo really admire and love Haruki as he claims he does? Otherwise how can Reo blithely talk of getting Haruki pregnant which would ruin everything for him?
While Kazushi is oddly charming, caring, and manipulative, not to mention has an elastic sense of truth, Kuranosuke really tends to over-react and dramatize. What was "creepy" for example about Kazushi having tried to find someone else, girl or boy, and realizing that he was only looking for Kuranosuke's stand in? Why would their relationship only be based on sex if they both care? Kuranosuke is the one creating drama by insisting that it can't be anything else, because HE can't believe in Kazushi's confession.
While I think the story is promising, though I wonder what was supposed to be comedic about it, there are other elements I was less certain about. I can't really say at this point that I actually liked any of the characters, though I sympathized with a few. I also felt that the art style, for this setting, was a bit of drawback. It didn't create that atmosphere that I felt the story needed.
So all has been revealed, and they kiss. Are they now together? Well probably not without problems, as people have said there are 3 more volumes and still not done yet! Those 3 volumes keep haunting me because the more the story progesses the less I can see what they can get up to to fill those volumes out, and so fear the worst of plot twisters.
Gosh I love the ambiance of the story. I'm so hooked. But 3 volumes??? And still not done yet? I really hope this isn't going to be one of those stories that drags out the plot with silly misunderstandings, communication issues, and other assorted obstacles. I would be so disappointed after such a fantastic start.

The slow build in the story is what makes it so good. We along with Ivan are not quite sure of William as he is now. That being said I so hope Ivan, no matter the past, has no intention of working for the mafia for real or not. He'd only get into trouble. He might consider telling something of his mission though, as they most likely already know about it, and buy himself some "goodwill".
