Cute and fun, but how innocent can a uke be? So while I enjoy this for the light-hearted fluff it is, I wish it wasn't necessary to make ukes like Yotsuya quite so childlike and innocent. As if the main reason they succumb is because of ignorance of the situation, rather than attraction that they couldn't withstand.

Gosh, I totally agree 100%....

Really do enjoy the extras. They're great fun. I just really wish the vol. hadn't ended with such a gigantic cliffhanger, or that the cliffhanger had been resolved sooner. I can understand sensei wanting to catch her breath between vols., but please next time show readers some mercy and don't leave them on tenderhooks for so long or just on smaller ones.

Actually she added a couple pages to chapter 65 on the volume release (as well as on two other chapters). So there's not much of a cliffhanger anymore, they've reached it, and indeed those who buy the books and won't read the scanlation won't be left on a huge cliffhanger either :) (they do have to wait 2 years and a half each time xD).

Like they said above there isn't really a cliffhanger anymore but I do agree with what you're saying. Sensei's chapters do tend to end on a cliffhanger like almost every time anyway. I do hope she shows the fans some mercy sometimes... We're constantly worried about something or other after every chapter. One of the worst cliffhangers was when Akihito got shot by Yuri at the end of naked truth... That was so bad.

Oh marvelous! Wonderful! I like to buy vols. in order and have not been able to get even vol. 1 as of yet (keeps beeing sold out), so the reality is not only am I now going to be missing a chunk of storyline when the next vol. starts, since it will be ages before they manage to publish in EU (even if I choose to buy it out of sequence) before I can find out how this all got resolved.
No, at the moment I'm not a happy camper, and could happily throttle whoever came up with this brilliant idea. The only thing I can hope is she includes the end of vol. 8 in the start of vol. 9 as a recap.

Yeah, truth is she's obviously not bothering with people reading her mangas illegally. And those interested in the series in Japan can happily just buy it now for 800 yens. Many here bought it in Japanese too just to have the redrawings and extentions early. I bought it because I can mangage to read Japanese xD. But she may recap it anyway in the magazine, like if she plans that at the volume 9 release she cuts that part from the next chapter. But I don't know, I guess that sort of stuff makes her sell more volumes? Aha.
In the meantime people posted pictures of each the additional pages on Facebook. You'd just have to ask people to translate it to you in comments and such.

"Not bothering" - do you maybe mean that you think sensei doesn't care about piracy of her work? I'm pretty sure it would bother her because it's taking money out of her pocket when she only gets a small cut from publishers etc. Plus Japan is bothered enough that they have been trying to crack down on piracy.

While I can understand and sympathize from from both the mangaka's and the Japanese POV on scanlations, I'm not sure if they're not taking a short term view from personal experience.
Most of the mangas I have become acquainted with I did through scanlations, and most aren't available for sale anyway. Many of those I really would like to buy, I just can't get, and so can only enjoy scanlations at the moment but would certainly buy if they become available (at a reasonable price) in my region. Due to customs, importing from outside EU is cost prohibitive most of the time. So until they invest more time and energy into the international market, I think scanlations acts as free advertising for the mangakas that they could use, if they wanted to, to get a feel for what kind of interest and how marketable a manga might be. Sometimes the international response can differ quite a lot to the Japanese, and it might pay to keep a manga or anime going abroad.
Even those cases where the manga is available, the fact that I was able to read a scanlation first let me know if this was a manga I would like enough to buy or not. I would never have bought mangas or even started reading them if I hadn't been able to read them for free online. So you can say that I now buy mangas is in fact due to scanlations.

That's one opinion, personally since it did make me buy less in the long run (I bought so many in my early teenage year before I even knew scanlations existed) and have a bunch of friends who totally could buy them in town but still prefer to just binge read online, while my peeps who are not able to read English buy every single of them, I have another opinion for that. I still haven't figured out why people think it's publicity to scanlate a whole manga. Why not just like, the first few volumes? THEN I think everyone could profit from that.
Like, you've got enough chapters to know if you're going to enjoy the series or not, and at the same time the loads of people who just binge read won't be able to finish series they enjoy without dropping a single cent.

Just don't see an equality in this relationship anymore. What I missed was a reciprocity of emotional content from Keiichi during the reunion. Shingo is on one emotional level, Keiichi is on a completely different one. The proof you might say lies in everyone having to say "we all know he really loves Shingo". It wouldn't be necessary to say something like that if Keiichi himself had made any statements of emotional content. All he talked about was how Shingo was his, not how he felt about him, which is not the same. And while this was sweet and fluffy, Keiichi still just didn't say what I really needed him to say. It still seemed to be owner and pet. I miss the old Keiichi.

While I won't disagree with your generalization as such, but Keiichi did seem to be able to emote much more in the earlier vols. Also quite a few mangas, while representing that sort of stereotype, somehow also manage to be able to have the characters make some sort declaration of their feelings at important moments.

Well, I Asians as well, but I don't think what you say is the case, if we put the Asian here, then I will find this kind character or story not just in this manga, in my opinion is simply just like what @Amberwaves said. Keiichi need the 'openness', 'honesty', that this doesn't look like the owner and pet. Not I blame Keiichi, this one too is simply I miss the old Keiichi.

well, believe or not, it's very typical for japanese men. mangas are different but maybe the author wanted something more realistic this time??? Especially for a long term relationship ( like Keiichi and Shingo ) , the way of loving will be not as sweet as it was in the beginning. but it doesn't mean he doesnt love him anymore, he just shows it in different ways.
maybe, there will be a new story for Kuroneko which Keiichi will show his love more openly for Shingo there.

They have made up and Keiichi dosn't show anything exept 'Shingo was his Shingo was his' that make him like the owner not his lover, there's no feeling and make Shingo looks pitiable.
To be honest I can't see the realistic term here because what we talk are about love and how they treat someone they love, if only one person who said everything about their feeling, and the other keep shut their mouth with ambiguous act is not that just make the one who more honest hurt in uneasiness. But yeah, let's hope there will be a story where Keiichi be more honest.

Idk- Sadly I also feel that what Keiichi is showing is the same as what he is saying, i.e. ownership. He only got 1 ring. From other mangas I read, in every case wedding rings, even with gay couples, came in matching pairs. So why did Keiichi only get 1? If they were to be a sign that they mutually belonged to one another there should have been 2. As it is, with only 1, it signifies that Shingo belongs to him, while the same can't equally be said in return.
Further there's a difference between what you show on a daily basis, and what you show at a crucial moment in a relationship. To not respond on any emotional level when someone is pouring their heart out (in tears), is cold. I know many people who aren't very verbally demonstrative, but that wouldn't make them completely unable to respond in such a situation and communicate their basic feelings. Even if it is just a simple 'I love you too'.

I believe there will be another story which will show more about Keiichi and what he has thought. In this part, the story is more like about Shingo's aspect, so it didn't show much Keiichi's feeling and thoughts.
In my point of view, Keiichi and Shingo they love each other but they had to face the communication problem during time of living together. And they failed to fix that. If you read the previous sequels , you also can see that Keiichi can't stand the thoughts that Shingo couldn't trust him. I believe when he told Shingo this time you abandoned me, his heart also broke apart.
If Keiichi didn't love Shingo, he wouldn't go so far just to handle the ring and asked his nephew to say Shingo " I love you " cuz he coudn't say it anymore.
Lastly, his attempt to keep the poker face failed as soon as he saw Shingo's tears that means loving and caring, you know...

well, saying " i love you too " is not as simple as it may sound.
One of the reason why he couldn't say "I love you" to Shingo anymore because he realised Shingo had no trust in him. It's no use saying I love you too in that case.
Knowing Keiichi, he's super possessive, his way of loving is twisted, it's not usually. I agree by giving only 1 ring is like a cat collar, but seeing all Keiichi did , he definitely love Shingo more than just an owner.

That's what I said from the begining, I miss the old Keiichi, that's how Keiichi used to be, but what now?
Ok, let's say it the way Keiichi facing the current situation or that the way Keiichi taking step to handle Shingo, but the matter now is that they've been going together again which means it's time for them to clarify everything, and not only from one side because it's not a proper action for those who claim to love each other and want to improve their relationship, therefore they can trust each other again.
Nah, the ring is one of the reason why it's look like the owner say 'this cat is mine' he must say something else that describe his true feeling even if it not with word 'I love you too' but the word with same meaning, at the end he don't say anything with that meaning except his words that just look like he claim Shingo, just claim.
"His attempt to keep the poker face failed as soon as he saw Shingo's tears," that means loving? Pitying him? Not have another choice? Perforce? Many possibilities for that meaning that why so many people who read this manga wanted a clearer explanation of Keiichi's true feeling. You can see from the reviews.
And what else should I read? If I've read them all. Those previous sequel you mention it and the other, that why I had come to this opinion.

First, I'm pretty sure if you go by the behavior of both parties there's lack of trust from both sides. I'm specifically referring to the reunion, when Shingo is making his feelings very clear, and has clearly gotten over his trust issues. Just odd not to be even say that he loves him in return, when he was able to do so in earlier vols. despite Shingo's trust issues.
So my problem is that the gentler, loving Keiichi who left us in no doubt that he 'definitely loves' Shingo in earlier vols., despite his possesive and dominating behavior, just seems gone. All we're left with is the possesiveness and dominance.

@ling & @Amberwaves
I don't mean anything but you guys seems take it too hard on Keiichi. He loves Shingo, I don't know why you guys tried way too hard to resist that.
If you want something in particular, then on chapter 13 , Keiichi says while caring Shingo " i adore you so much, Shingo ( he use daisuki here ) and next he tells " I love you " ( yes the legendary Aishiteru ), Japanese hardly ever use Ashiteru, it means to use in very special case.
after that he also asked for Shingo that from now on don't think anything on his own , just let Keiichi know what he thinks ...
If that's not love, then I don't even know what can be called love to you ???

Ch. 13? So far this vol. only goes to ch. 12 with a couple of extras (old chs. from previous vols.). Do you have raws of the next upcoming and access to more info than the rest of us? If so, lucky you. I unfortunately can't read Japanese (except for a few Kanji having studied Chinese hist.), so must rely on translations.

I've heard Keiichi says that from my friend. Nah that what I mean, I've been waiting for that, but I also have said several times, from the begining, the case "When they are made up" Keiichi's act just make it hurt to seen. Is it like that the way you treat someone who love you crying and plead in front of you while expressing all his feeling and you just need to bring that person to have sex and then all the problem resolved? Well I reliaved Keiichi slightly express his feeling at ch 13, and I hope in the next chapter there is will any side story from Keiichi's point view.
I don't know if I or everyone who have the same though just like mine wich I know is not only me alone and @Amberwaves that make this hard or is it you who take it too lingtly of the importance of clear communication between lovers. Well I also don't mean anything but I think it was you who make this harder since you mention about Asian men and realistic relationship since the begining.
Well, seem like this gonna keep running in circle ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭

here you go ^^ ch.13 raw, it's in chinese though, I think the translation will come soon.
I can't read Chinese, just Japanese for easy sentences :D
Keiichi says more than twice in ch.13 " I adore you so much, Shingo , I love you "
and "thank you for becoming mine, Shingo, really."
It doesn't sound as much as affectionate like it does in Japanese though. XD I like it more in Japanese XD I can't explain, it's just my feeling.

I think you got the point here, It's not all asian men. Just men in my place are too half-assed. You're so lucky, men in your place are not like that.
For Japanese men, indeed, they don't show their love or affection by words much, they prefer delivering their love by action, and women think it's cool XD not for all people though, just in general.

sorry I'm dumb , I forgeted pasting the link http://www.77mh.com/201605/333641.html?page=1

I like this and really do want to know where this is going, but have to admit to being slightly confused every now and then. Also, I hate to admit it, I'm not quite sure I really care for Sousuke. However regrettable his past, it still doesn't excuse being mean or cold to people, even if we understand why he is that way.

I understand that Sousuke has always been kinda mean to Shihara
However that's no excuse for his behavior right now. It's cruelty in another way. It's fine if he likes Shihara but he seems determine to never go any farther with Shihara because of his position and status.... then he should firmly conceal his desire for Shihara, or at least firmly reject him.
so why is he leading him on? Screw "this method wield better results (refer to chapter 4). it's just cruel. Don't give him a blowjob when you want to stay friends...... What are you thinking, bruh? When I saw the face shihara made, I died on the inside.

Sousuke is tsundere, he liked Shihara and was mean just to hide it. If the adults had not left the 2 kids unsupervised at that time, neither'd be suffering now.

First, most of us grow up. Meaning, whatever issues and other childhood faults we had, we learn somewhere along the line to get over the worst of them. Not all, but most. We also learn why a lot them were a bad idea to begin with. So, I'm not quite sure how Sousuke's generally being mean in childhood to Shihara has anything to do with adults. Nor is it possible for adults to supervise 2 children constantly. Accidents will happen.
Second, that however was the past, and doesn't really explain Sousuke's attitude as an adult. If he really can't stand Shihara that much, he should leave. If he likes him, but feels he can't be with him, again he should leave. If he wants him then he should quit holding back. Staying and sending such mixed and undecided signals to someone you know loves you, is cruel. You certainly don't give them a blowjob just to get some info.
Idk, can't help but feel it would have been more in character for Sousuke to have just asked Shihara what he wanted to know, but someone thought the manga needed a sexy scene so we got the smutty version instead.

In the latest chapter, Shihara (the seme) says, "that day, we decided that we would just stay close friends." I'm pretty sure it was a mutual decision however, (personally) I think Shihara has been very honest with his feelings (At least his desire and jealousy). I feel like he's only trying to stay as a friend because that is Sousuke's wish and since Sousuke is so dear to him, he doesn't want to lose him so he goes along with what Sousuke wants. but its getting harder and harder to control his desire for sousuke that's why he lost control in chapter 1.
Beside isn't it Sousuke (in chapter 1) going on about how Shihara should just find himself a doe/girlfriend, that he would have to continue his family line. He even told him to get marry and have lots of fawns (kids).... and that's when Shihara say he won't marry (about right here)
http://www.mangago.zone/read-manga/mahoroba_days/nmt/c001/15/
Before Shihara was even allow to confess, sousuke stopped him. He obviously knows what Shihara's feelings for him is but something is stopping him from admitting/ accepting itl I don't know if its fear of being abandon or rejection or guilt because Shihara's father the one that save him. but there's something.
And that's why I said he was cruel. I mean that he talks about Shihara getting marry, having kids and that their relationship will always be master and employees... than why did he gave him a blowjob?? Especially when it wasn't to tell him he love him or anything it was to get information out of him.
Also in the last chapter, it was stated that Shihara didn't lose his power in exchange for Sousuke's life, he lost his power because he knowingly allow Sousuke to enter a prohibited area.
http://www.mangago.zone/read-manga/mahoroba_days/nmt/v01/c004/pg-25/
Unless he's lying. but if he truly lost his power in exchange for sousuke's life... I don't know why people aren't making a commotion around him.

Hello. You have a very similar response to what I have up there (at least the second part)
So I just wanted to talk to you for a bit.
I agree with what you say. The scene where Sousuke give him a blowjob was painful to watch, especially the face that Shihara made afterwards.. There's just so much contradictory that it hurts. To sum it up, Sousuke was the one telling Shihara to get marry and have kids and then he give him a blowjob to get info out of him.... but doesn't want to be friends with benefits?
Indeed, it was very out of character with what he's been doing until now (except helping his younger brother masturbrate.... what even.....?)

You forget, deers are the ones who rule sthat world, and in Sousuke's home the ones in power are Shihara and his family. Obeying Shihara's mom, Sousuke already left his family home. He only went back because Shihara told him his adoptive family wanted to see him. Or should Sousuke just leave the country altogether, and never see his adoptive family again just so Shihara won't suffer?

Sousuke *died* and had to be resurrected by Shihara's dad because Shiraha didn't want to warn him that place was cursed and people who entered it got killed. As a result of dying and resurrecting, Sousuke's memory is obviously completely messed up, years later after the fact. Granted, Shihara was just a kid then and he made a mistake, but he's not a victim.

"Accidents will happen". Yeah, death happens too, but that doesn't mean we should start letting sick people die and kids cross the streets without watching out for cars, does it?

Plus, Hiko said Shihara is cutting himself off from his powers for Sousuke's sake. He didn't say he cut himself off or had his powers cut off, but he used the present tense like Shihara is actively doing it. Maybe this was a translation issue and the rest of my rambling is moot, but I find it interesting. There is the possibility that Shihara is unconsciously cutting them off out of guilt, but there is a possibility he is doing it either unconsciously or consciously to be with Sousuke and maybe it even started out of guilt but part of him just keeps the powers off so he can stay with Sousuke who always drew his attention, which is why Hiko says it is for Sousuke's sake.

Hmmm, I maybe confused on the tense part, but the reasoning is still the same. I don't know. I just want a happy ending.

We onto know that he died just that Shihara's dad sacrificed a treasure to save Sousuke.

Not sure that it was that clear cut. The way I read it, Shihara felt guilty because Sousuke would never have kept going into an area they BOTH knew was out of bounds if he hadn't kept chasing after him, and then ill-wishing him. Besides that rope hanging across the cave opening seemed pretty clear to me. So the way I see it they were both at fault.

You tell your kids to go play in the back yard while you make dinner. While tossing a ball around, the ball goes into the street that along the yard. Despite repeated admonitions against doing any such thing, one of the kids runs out to get it, and an accident happens. Are you to blame? Should you have been watching your kids instead of making dinner? Must you pay a nanny? Or keep the children indoors? But then most accidents happen in the home. There's a difference between reasonable precautions and not allowing children any freedom due to an exagerated fear of what may possibly happen.
And I don't see how "letting sick people die" even relates. You don't seem to be able to differentiate between actual negligence and indifference, to kids disobeying the instruction given by caring adults. Children are curious, and bound to get themselves into trouble, sometimes sadly of a serious nature.

You are also forgetting that Sousuke is missing a chunk of memory. A chunk of himself. He has obviously wondered about it, and asked many times about it. He knows that people are hiding something from him, and has only gotten vague answers. He wants to discover that chunk that is missing. And while he is trying to figure out that chunk, he believes that he is the one responsible for weakening the next ruler of the country!
He has been ordered by the head mistress not to stick around the family compound anymore (she obviously blames him for what happened in the past), and his family that keeps proclaiming that they love him won't tell him the truth. Then add on top of that the person that you deeply care about also won't tell you the truth, and keeps saying that it isn't his fault.
What would you do? How would you act? Would you kiss ass the whole time and smile? Sit in a corner and cry? Or try to build your life, and let people know that you acknowledge smiling faces hide knives? Put yourself in his shoes, before you judge him to harshly.

Those ropes can also be put to protect a sacred place, like when they are are put at the entrance of a temple, so the ropes by themselves wouldn't have been a clear-cut signal that the place was dangerous. And Shihara does say he lost his powers because he knowingly let a person enter a forbidden place. He raised his hand and was about to say something, but stopped himself because he "hated" Sousuke. So yeah, they were both at fault. That was my whole point. Neither of them is a victim in this troubled relationship they have.

So we actually agree, you see? We both think children are curious and can not be blamed. My point is that accident has affected Sousuke's memory and that this fact, together with his ambiguous status at the temple and with his adoptive family, makes it hard for him to understand Shihara's feelings very well, like his guilt. That's why he's still "bullying" him.

We probably do, the problem of indirect communication. :) That's what I meant by 'accidents happen': i.e. that sometimes there's really noone to blame, though people will often blame themselves much more than they should. (Not to mention others.) A little guilt and a sense of responsibility can be a good thing, but crippling guilt rarely is.

I wasn't aware I was judging him so "harshly", as I hadn't categorically deemed him without redeeming qualities or reasons for his conduct, just that there was aspects that was less likable. And this early on, I'm only stating on what I see as tendency in character development. Doesn't mean that its difinitive, or that I won't change my opinion.
It seems to me that not only a great deal seems vague, and a great many assumptions as to what characters know and how they know it, but while all that may be true and relatable, it still doesn't change the basic question does a tragic past excuse present bad behavior? I don't blame him for wanting to find out the truth, just the means he uses to do so. Likewise, having been in a similar situation myself where I couldn't return someones feelings but was aware of them, I realized the kindest thing I could do was to put some distance between us. I thought at first there might be reasons why he couldn't leave, but that doesn't seem to be the case.
So to answer your last part, if I felt so unwanted, I wouldn't stick around. And no its not easy when it comes to family. And yes, I've been there, which is why I don't get why he sticks around.

Yeah, the blow j seems to come out of nowhere, but in a way Sousuke's relationship with his little bro is the proof that his sense of boundaries is completely turned on its head. I suspect the little bro is to blame for that in some way (like, if he for example went to great lenghts to make his adoptive bro feel "wanted" and his heavy petting eventually turned to molesting), but I guess we can't be sure of any of that yet.

I think I understand your thoughts, but their relationship has been a little bit twisted (for me, I don't like that kind of BS in RL) since the beginning.
Sousuke likes teasing Shiraha and is aware of Shiraha reactions: Shiraha loves his teases. They are also in a submissive/dominant relationship, and somehow they change roles (?): the divine messenger/the servant. Sousuke lowered his head, Shiraha got excited; Sousuke badmouthed him, Shiraha blushed; Sousuke told him to give him a command, Shiraha was turned on; Sousuke asked him to let go, Shiraha denied, Sousuke blushed. Sousuke loves being Shiraha's number 1, that the heir is in love with him. Shiraha loves being treated as a normal deer by Sousuke. :P
But it is not only about a role play, they are disturbed by those roles: Shiraha doesn't want to order Sousuke around, Sousuke prefers to hold back due to his position as a servant.
Both know they have great feelings for each other, but are in denial, kind of:
Shiraha: "you are a friend", “we decided to remain close friends”.
Sousuke: "and yet I chose to stay here".
They want to be together, but they also think they shouldn't because of regrets, guilt, status, stubbornness (?).
They have been in love since they were children but had have trouble to admit it.
My hypothesis: Sousuke bullies Shiraha, Shiraha “hates” him because he wants to be treated gently by Sousuke, it hurts when someone you care is mean; and Sousuke bullies him because Shiraha being so close makes him self-conscious of his feelings.
You made me think if the BJ was out of character, but it seems not, because Sousuke has been teasing him a lot, maybe he went overboard, but even Shiraha asked him to give him a handjob, and it is the same Shiraha who talked about their "friendship", there is a boundaries issue between them, Sousuke is aware of that, but his desire and curiosity has blinded him.
Giving him a BJ was a mean to get information, but it is also Sousuke’s desire, he was using that excuse. I don’t think it is only about “sucking him info”, it IS cruel, because he knows Shiraha’s feelings but he might have told himself “he isn’t aware of them and I need info”. He was desperate, no one tells him the truth, he is having nightmares, he feels an important part of his life is missing, Hiko told him Shiraha is suffering for his sake, “mmm, who might know? Oh, the airhead Shiraha, the one who would do anything for me, who wants a handjob and who I want to ravish me… *cough*”.
As Anonymus said, both are at fault, they are not victims. Sousuke may have been insensitive, but Shiraha isn’t the most sensitive either while forcing Sousuke (being honry is not an excuse, just as Sousuke being desperate isn’t a BJ excuse either), or asking him to do him a handjob…
Sousuke also has feelings, is Shiraha aware of them? Isn’t he also cruel while being such an airhead towards someone who is holding back?
Both are idiots, there is no doubt… I like them!
About what Hiko said of Shiraha cutting himself off, I think he is talking about the "calming rituals" (grueling rituals) Shiraha needs to do since his father used a treasure to resurrect Sousuke, although we still don’t know the real nature of the rituals.
It is also weird that Shiraha’s father showed him the dead raccoon, but resurrected Sousuke, even though he told Shiraha the cycle of life was precious…
There are mysteries yet to discover…

Very interesting and well thought out. Nice perspective, so thank you for taking the time and trouble to write it all out. I'm duly grateful.
I still think that Sousuke has a tendency to hide behind his 'servant' status, using it to rationalize his actions and choices, not to say relations with others, and define himself as such far more than anyone else does. It has become an emotional crutch and excuse for a great deal, including why the two of them can't meet on equal terms, at least when they're alone together.
But, yeah if I was to advise these 2, I would tell them to put some distance between them for a while, just so they could figure things out separately. I'm sure in the end they would both end up wanting to be together. IMO Shiraha (Gosh! About time I got the name right) needs to mature a bit, and Sousuke needs to come to terms with the past and decide what it is he wants for himself.

Yes, the 3rd wheel, whom we all dislike. Now we all know that he only transfered ther because Onoe. But why? Because of a grudge? Or because he really likes him? There's quite a few that think this is about a secret crush, and knowing yaoi, they're probably right. But I can't help but wish, that for once a grudge would was be a grudge, plain and simple.
This is cute, funny, completely wierd and nonsensical, and I love it. Can't wait to see where its going, in so many different ways. Mooore please!
