I read way more BL on this site. BL is filled with a gazillion petite feminine men with flowing hair, slim physique, tiniest waists, long lashes, big eyes---and the comment sections are never filled with readers shocked and confused about the characters' gender. They like cute things, sweet things, -- even cross dress! Nope. Not even for crazy omegaverse where husbands are "wives" and fathers are "mums" for reasons.
Yet here we have so much *shock* and *amazement* that Red is a woman. How? How!? Look at how physically fit she is! There are visible muscles (and breasts but let's skip that) this is insanely manly wow. And she's so aggressive because, oh, she's a soldier and it's not odd for the military to attract that kind of personality.
To think she looks androgynous is one thing but this over the top reaction to such a female character when we bury ourselves in male characters who *give birth* is too much for me.

Nothing to surprise. This is the result from misogynic culture and norm they practice, to the point that they hate that "women" exist and want to change everything in sight to male to fit their belief. I doubt that if someone dares to go to yaoi series and comment "Protagonists are so feminine, I reading this imagine them as a lesbian couple", they'll be cool with it or bombard the OP with hate and
anger.
I had encountered many of people like these in real life and many of their behaviors made me cringe, such as when they see straight couples they can't stop talk shit after the girls' back like "That guy is good looking. Why he has ugly ass girlfriend. He better dump her for a guy". And no doubt, almost all of these people are yaoi fangirls (not all yaoi fangirls are misogynic but sadly, many of them I met are).
PS. Good to see some sane people here. Have a nice day. :)

Omg, I don't even want to think about the kind of hate a reader would get if they dared to go on a yaoi BL page to do something similar.
You're right, it's not surprising; I always find misogynistic comments from girls/women to be particularly saddening. Red as a character is far more realistic than most yaoi uke/seme stereotypes--even based solely on how she's drawn--yet *she* is the one met with disbelief? ┗( T﹏T )┛
You have a nice day too, Jay :D.

I love the art: the style, the references. It's such a nice change! It's also so weird but fun to see a character like Momo in such a historical setting that tends to suggest super serious content. I could tooootally go for more historical slice of life in this exact tone.
Thank you, thank you, Ikeman scans ヾ(☆▽☆).

I ain't reading this. I'll stick with mysophobic anon's, ikohimine et al group. I don't usually make these sort of comments but the group hasn't dropped it and these aren't even any good.

Thanks for all your hard work! Please don't give up because of the hijackers. Your efforts and attention to detail are greatly appreciated <3<3<3

Oh, yeah you're right! I gotta thank you for your support too! I can't say what will happen in any of those cases. One depends on the admins here, the other depends of real life. We'll try to stick to September as Ikahomine wrote, but she's having pc issues and my free time to redraw right now is limited. So thanks to all for your patience orz orz.

Besides the more obvious stuff, what annoys me the most with omegaverse stories is the weird bits of gender essentialism it retains in what ought to be a more gender fluid world. We have male characters who identify as men and yet still have to be called a "house wife" and a "Mum" simply because they are primary caregiver. Would it really be mindblowing to have house husband and two Dads? It's not women's work by definition.
Anyhoo, Hikari chan and the fam charmed into reading it all, despite myself. I have two younger relatives staying with me for the summer; it was fun to compare mannerisms (▰˘◡˘▰).

I always thought that as the omegaverse takes some inspiration from animals packs and that stuff, that the fact that omegas are more homely was mainly because in the animal world the females are the one that USUALLY deal with that stuff.
And regarding the housewife thing, is mostly due to a cultural thing. Remember that Japan is still quite a patriarchal country so I don't expect them to have the notion of a "househusband (?)". What I did like is that Hikari never addressed Masaki as Mum, mother or any of the sorts.

Omegaverse is a fantastical world in which, among other things, men can be impregnated and reproduce (which isn't a thing in Japan or any other country, as far as I know). It shouldn't be such a stretch to simply call characters what they are when a romantic partner is a) the primary care giver who b) identifies as a man and c) is married. It's there on the page. I'm well aware of how culture influences societies, and the obvious inspiration for the alpha/omega mthos. My issue is how frustrating it is to see how far omegaverse world building pushes against tradition and still retains some of its ugliest aspects. It's an unpleasant dissonance, for me.
Anyhoo, house husbands exist in Japan: in small numbers but they are more than a "notion". Japan isn't nearly as monolithic as we like to think.

I don't need the teacher to get jealous, I just need him way from Mokhwa. And for god's sake, buy him a drink and some food for once. Surely, in the dolphin world there was some developed sense of community. This whole "he's an asshole because he's a dolphin" excuse got old for me 10 chapters ago.
Mokhwa, take better care of yourself.

Anyone who decides to play God and create obstacles for others in some misguided sense that it will improve them somehow is not only an asshole but pretty stupid. No life is perfect, challenges are a part of it, no one or nothing in the world is relying on you to be an asshole in order to make that happen.

Bc the little logo dolphin was pink I thought for sure Mokhwa would end up with Rino. I was so annoyed when that didn't seem to be the case. Rino actually pays attention and picks up on how Mokhwa feels and what he's thinking. He communicates. He's done it in a douchey way so far lol but he's LEAGUES ahead on the swim instructor where that's concerned.
Please, please, please let it happen.
I'm a little surprised at all the sympathy for Nanno over almost anyone else in the story, when Nanno was the one who used Ryou in the beginning for his own selfish desires. He was the least self-aware of all of them until near the end.
The story works for me because none of the characters are any better or worse than the other. They each have their particular weaknesses but manage to keep it together because they do care for one and another. Or maybe it worked out because one of them was a Makoto. He was forthright enough to declare who he really wanted and work at it (however imperfectly). Nanno rejected him then decided to sex Makoto's partners rather than talk to him about how his feelings had changed; Ryou liked Makoto but buckled at the first obstacle.
I enjoyed it. So many wanna believe in soul mates or "one true loves" or whatever but this story line is far more realistic. It really is very very easy to form attachments to more than one person. It takes discipline and a lot of reflection to maintain a monogamous relationship. It's a conscious decision not a natural state of being.
