I wish we could get more of hanada and chouno's story... i never enjoyed reading bdsm mangas because it's usually full of rape and dubcon. But this one actually has a proper bdsm etiquette where the kinks were negotiated and there was proper aftercare. It's not easy finding mangas like this... in fact this is the first time i read one where the sexual acts are consensual, discussed, and treated with respect (instead of the dominant ones forcing his ways to the submissive). Granted chouno is not actually an S, but he's willing to consider his partner's preference in bed. Same goes with hanada, and i think their relationship is really beautiful to read.

dubu July 5, 2019 6:31 pm

This could have been a masterpiece if the author hadn't used rape so easily and casually like that... and made it happen to a character that was already traumatic of past rape? That's just too much. I love the dynamic between miki and teru to death but it's kinda hard for me to read this, because it seems like everyone in the manga thought that rape is not that big of a deal.

    Chelia2501 November 4, 2019 6:07 am

How? The rapist got almost killed by Chiaki when he found out. That other dude was super depressed and felt guilty, because he could have done something but didn’t. It isn’t romanticized. It was terrible and left Miki with a trauma.

dubu July 8, 2019 10:59 am

The story is decent and the art is so beautiful but tbh... it's too overly sexual for me whwhsh to the point that i was a bit uncomfortable reading it. But that's just personal preference, i guess...

Like, idk what’s wrong with me, cause normally I don’t mind stories with sex in every chapter but when I was reading this I was just like, “THIS IS WAY TOO MUCH” kinda ruined it for me

Yeah, it's waay too gratuitous that it took over the story. And sometimes uncalled for? For example when kotou first realized that he liked fujii and came in his pants in the middle of school hallway like??? Wtf lmao. I'd rather see more of their interaction with family and friends tbh... and learn more about them as people in general, not the many ways they can make each other come whhh

Honestly this is the most well written yaoi manga for me. I've lost count how many times i've reread this... it might seem too simple/mundane compared to other mangas, but honestly it's not easy at all to create something like this. The development of the characters and their relationship is truly realistic, and in its simplicity, i can find a lot of things i can relate to. The process in which yajima and outomi realized their sexuality, came to terms with it, and eventually told people around them, is a lot like mine. I've been through what they had, and I imagine it would have been such an encouragement for a younger me if i was able to find that representation in a manga. I don't need complicated storyline, i don't need overly sexualized relationship, i just need this: simple, relatable, yet really well written love story.

The sad thing is, i don't think i'd be able to find anything else like this manga. The reason why it's so good is because the author really took her time to build, develop, and resolve her story. She was able to do it in 3 volumes. These days, yaoi mangas without "shock factor" (which often comes to hypersexualized and nonsensical storyline) won't sell well. This manga was possible because it was an old one, from a time when there weren't many yaoi mangas yet. Now, if you want to read stories like this, it was mostly one volume (or even oneshot) and often under-explored.

I wish there will be a lot of mangas like this in the future. It would be good if authors (and publishers) started prioritizing stories which are relatable to gay community, rather than the ones who satisfy straight women's fantasies.

That being said, some of the chapters seem to have bad translation. Do yourself a favor and read it on m*ngar0ck, that version is far, far better than the one here.

    Tolly July 11, 2019 1:05 am

Ikr, the mundane pace is what makes this so special. Because it feels relatable even when culturally speaking I'm different from them.

Thanks, this comment of yours made me read it, and on the site you recommended, too. There was a bit of confusion on that site cause some names were switched in the first chapter but the translation was good. After I finished reading it there, I took a look at the first chapter here to see the difference.... and holy cow, you weren't exaggerating xDD
It's truly a nice manga owo

"If you really can't be a neko, we'll think of something else. Sex isn't everything."

DO YOU KNOW HOW RARE IT IS TO FIND SOMETHING LIKE THAT IN YAOI MANGAS? AND HOW MUCH IT MEANS TO ME TO BE ABLE TO READ THOSE LINES?

I'm always cautious when reading yaoi mangas because of how often they romanticize abusive relationship, and how the readers (and by extension the authors) objectify gay people. As a gay man, it's so disheartening reading comments that make big deals out of who tops/bottoms, who refers to the characters as seme/uke instead of their names, who normalize rape/sexual assault etc. And more disheartening to read a whole bunch of yaoi mangas who promote unhealthy and heteronormative depictions of gay relationship, but since i'm reading without paying a cent, i guess i can't complain too much.

I just hope there are more mangas like this, that choose to show how wonderful healthy relationship and consensual sex can be--instead of glorifying rape and heteronormativity. Thank you for the author and the scanlation group!

Yeah, that's why i love this manga. The author implies that who bottoms/tops doesn't matter, because penetrative sex isn't everything in a relationship.

dubu July 3, 2019 9:30 am

Wow this is like... the fluffest of fluff i've ever read. I've never seen that much blush in a manga before lmao. It's borderline cringe at times (esp. the dialogue during sex akdjsk) but it's also sweet. And also yay for consensual sex! When he said "i'll stop immediately if you say no" it hits me all in the right spots. Also it has lots and lots of foodporn which is always a good point for me.

dubu July 3, 2019 7:36 am

We need more wholesome mangas like this! I really love it, the idea of having a sanctuary where you can be yourself and no one would judge you for it. Kinda reminds me of shimanami tasogare.

absolutely not a single soul:
yaoi authors: SEXUAL ASSAULT !!!!!!!! (≧∀≦)

like ffs, is it that hard to write a story about healthy, non fetishizing gay relationship? Considering there's way more rapey yaoi mangas than non-rapey ones, i guess it is really that hard huh...

    Almond Bark July 2, 2019 11:24 pm

Agreed, but it does make the manga interesting to read! I'm super curious as to what the blond is going to do next~

Sure, whatever rings your bells, but the least authors and/ translators can do is put trigger warnings, so a gay man like me who has been assaulted in the past can read gay mangas without feeling like absolute shit

Also, healthy relationship doesn't need to be boring. There are plenty interesting yaoi mangas who don't promote sexual assault out there, though they're overridden with the ones that do.

I'm sorry that you've been assaulted before. I think a lot of readers get desensitized to rape/etc from overexposure in the manga we read, and I don't think a lot us really think about these "tropes" applied to real life and real people.

Thank you. I understand reading mangas with rape content for fun, but a lot of mangas normalized the act. I just wish at least authors would put trigger warnings on their works. Or at least treat the topic with respect and give it serious consequences instead of acting like rape is something that can be easily excused. A lot of gay men read mangas too, and some of them are young, and might not know better. I don't want people think this is how gay relationship normally works, just like i don't want straight teenage girls who watch misleading chick flicks think abusive men are attractive.

A lot society needs to be changed from what the young (er) generations are exposed to to and learn to be normal. Abuse shouldn't been seen as normal, nor should sexism and racism. There's been a lot of differing opinions regarding the recent gender stereotypes ban from British ads, but I think it's at least in the right direction.

I guess someone could argue they enjoy rape stories like how people enjoy murder/horror movies, but I just can't get myself to see their view very well. The comments for rape stories are often positive and literally outright ignore the rape, and that doesn't happen for murder/horror movies. I've never seen, "Wow, the murderer is sooooo hot!!!!! I wanna be tied up by them!!"

That's not true, though... stories with murderer/psychopath characters get those kind of comments too. For example, killing stalking. There are a lot of readers who find the MC (who is a rapist, serial killer, abuser, basically lowest of lows) hot.

As for finding rape hot... i hate it to death, but i understand that some people have certain kinks and we can't help what we like. That's why there should be trigger warnings, if not by author/translator, then at least by the online platform. Myr*adingm*nga has official "rape" tag, even "abusive lover", and it helps a lot for people who want to avoid mangas with such content. Mangago has "rape" tag but only by readers, and not all mangas with non/dubcon content are tagged accordingly, which sucks a lot.

I didn't really think about horror/murder manga, just the movies. I've heard comments about how hot the actor/actress is, but they don't just sidestep the horror/murder. Usually the comments on the way out of the theater are all about how they spilled the popcorn when the jumpscare happened or etc.
You've probably done this already, but there are a bunch of manga lists that are specifically romantic/fluff (etc) and an exclude abuse. I do that a lot of the time.

dubu July 2, 2019 11:07 pm

I've read the finished raws, and here's the summary:

- they kept dating and took everything slowly. Yohan was more forward and moogyeong reserved. I like that they prioritized consent and respected what the other was comfortable doing (take notes, yaoi mangas!)

- moogyeong didn't do well on ONE (1) mock exam and yohan was EXTREMELY guilty about it (he thought he was distracting moogyeong from his study) like seriously he was so down eventhough moogyeong said it was ok, he just couldn't concentrate during that one exam (because he kept daydreaming about him... and yohan... doing things...)

- yohan suggested they take a temporary break from each other until moogyeong finished his exams, but it just resulted in a lot of angst and tears on his part (he cried a lot, poor puppy). Luckily it got resolved soon, because apparently moogyeong got an early acceptance to a top university, so there was no need to worry about grades as long as he graduated phew

- yohan met moogyeong's mom! He dressed to the nines and bought flowers for her and she was quite taken with him, it was sweet

- the two of them went to a seaside for moogyeong's graduation trip... and they got to second base. I'm proud of my sons.

- yohan knew it was impossible for him to go to the same uni with moogyeong (bc it was a top uni) but he promised that he'd go for a nearby uni. He asked if they could live together, and moogyeong agreed!

Some extras from author's note:
- yohan studied really hard and got accepted to a uni near moogyeong's.
- yohan's parents divorced soon after yohan graduated, and as a token of guilt/conscience they left the house to him. He and moogyeong lived together there.
- yuri got in the same uni with moogyeong and often gave yohan shit about it lmao

Some unresolved plot points:
- yohan still has a Lot of insecurities regarding his relationship with moogyeong
- moogyeong is still afraid to be openly affectionate with yohan in public. One time he rejected yohan's kiss and yohan was so hurt, and it's something that hasn't been resolved yet.
- MOOGYEONG STILL HASN'T SAID "I LIKE YOU" TO YOHAN I CAN'T BELIEVE
- what's up with yuri's conflict? I don't understand a thing about it, only have a feeling that it has to do with his sister (?)

All in all, great webtoon. Really sweet and slow and innocent. I love it so much, hope the author carries on writing it.

Spoiler again!! So MG didn't do well on one mock exam. YH thought it was his fault, because he thought he was distracting MG from his study. One day he saw MG getting scolded by his homeroom teacher because of his mock He avoided MG's texts, calls, and when they saw each other he couldn't even talk. One day, he saw MG getting scolded by his homeroom teacher about his mock exam result and became MORE guilty (it was a bit dramatic, tbh) and he cried without MG's knowledge. MG was fed up with all the avoiding and came to YH's house to confront him, asking, "do you want to break up with me or what?" hearing this, YH cried again lmao because of course he didn't want to break up. So they talked, cleared up the misunderstanding, and MG told YH that he just got accepted in a uni anyway, so he shouldn't worry about his grades. YH was happy, they made out, angst over!

OMG!! I LOVE HOW IT PLAYED OUT!! THANKS FOR THIS!! Yohan always tried to look confident in their relationship, but it was a known fact how sensitive he is too, and Moogyeong being once to appease his insecurities is refreshing and good to know! they really know how to communicate and it's not a totally one sided relationship in a sense that one got to bear all the burden of appearing strong and appeasing insecurities!!
