Look, I'm all for saving people from horrible situations, but we're pushing the lines of suspect. While I don't think that she's mentally a child, even though they refer to her as being a child, it seems nore like she has a very childlike personality and highly is undereducated- if educated at all.
The problem I have is, he does not take the reigns in educating her before pushing this romance angle. You don't just spring the naughtys on someone who doesn't even know what a period is. ಠಗಠ
And I do understand he attempted to get one of his subordinates to educate her, but we all know how that went. There are so many people out there who's be willing and able to teach her, because she is willing and able to learn, and is obviously a fast learner. This is gonna turn into some type 2 imprisonment situation where the only person she can rely on is the ML and the second something happens, she can be left for dead, abandoned, executed, or worse if he so wished.

Her actions in her previous life have zero bearing on her current life. If she knew then what she knows now, she most likely would have taken Fleta(?) in back then too. The only thing she was guilty of, and admittedly is still guilty of, is naivety and ignorance.
She's doing her best with what she has and clearly adores Fleta(?), both back then and now. Y'all out here calling her a hypocrite, selfish, etc, and not explaining why.
