One of my peeves about “sucking up to fam so that I avoid my death flag” stories is that there rarely is a clear enough line where the sucking up passes from “for my own benefit” to “I genuinely care about these people and I am caring about them because I love them”.
The FL has declared that, while she sympathises on the similar situations she’s experienced, she doesn’t really consider them family that she’s gonna stick around in. She may have cried when when her father greeted her after school but any affection-starved person is gonna react that way. It doesn’t necessarily mean anything.
She has a right to be a little jaded about family thanks to what the soul switch did and having experienced abuse in her actor life as well as watching her true life die for 20 years. But I hope there is a point where she comes round, believes they care for her and she no longer has to mentally tip toe on whether she’ll trigger her sudden death.

I mean no one acknowledged her until she won them over with coffee so it makes sense that she now feels that she has finally become useful to the Duke to the point where he likes her because how well coffee is doing

Popping out at chapter 50 to agree that Ars is becoming increasingly irrelevant ever since his dad’s death. He’s been constantly freaking out, stresses whenever decisions are left up to him and, unless my mind is playing tricks on me, speaking less and less on the plot. The drunk chick has only been recently introduced and I want her as a main character more than Ars. Ars is more of a lucky charm figurehead than a Lord right now.
Just popping out at chapter 37 to say that the end translator notes are always so hilarious, poking at the trope and making fun of the protag. The most recent translator note ribbing on Ars for not knowing where the countries are despite being the head lord and studying since he was 3 XD I’ve started thinking of him as “Bobblehead” thanks to them.

I love isekai stories where the protagonist wants to achieve some sort of tangible goal. Not like self confidence or not living like previously. But like I want to make books (Ascendence of Bookworm), the handful of stories where they want to open a coffee shop, open a restaurant, become a doctor and open a practice or, in this case, grow rice XD
I’m 11 chapters in but what is with the women (and the kids or the orphanage) in this series and being unable to take a decent compliment without assuming connotations or insulting the dude back? Do they want to be treated like shit?
I feel very bad for Seedling. He’s very autism-coded to me, so seeing Jay really rib and hate on him makes me go TuT even if I get it.

Yeah, he fucked up with the fireslug, jumping into a fight he didn’t have a clear chance at winning and needlessly making it rampage. But I thought he was sorta correct during the fire carriage, even if he was tactless about it. Jae is still a low level, took on a quest (unwillingly, granted) she was not at a capacity to confidently do, was berating herself the entire journey that she was weak and was trying to argue that her dryads were fine and she was the weak one when her dryads skills ARE tied to her level. They can’t use their bigger skills thanks to her soul limit. She literally only wion via pay-to-win which is technically NOT strength.
That’s one of my peeves about determined “i just gotta believe and not give up” stories is that they tend to undermine the trait of knowing when to pick your battles and run. It’s worked out for her so far, as I just finished the Saving Terrarium 28 arc. She is absolutely correct to not want to pull Daisy out at the slightest hint of danger, but I hope her special-grade dryads and string of lucky victories doesn’t leave her overconfident and push her into battles that go way over her head, even if she does have infinite money.
This is honestly what annoys me the fck so much. She's too over confident. Seedling is really just straightforward as hell but he's just spitting facts.
It sucks because I remember liking the Plants SO MUCH. I liked watching them evolve, getting new skills and visuals. And it being a sort of reverse-harem game helped. I wanted to learn more about the game world but man, the MC dragged it all down with her idealistic preachiness.
I should give it another go maybe, now that I’ve had at least a year away from it. See if it gets better.
