i know doing gender-bender and cross-dressing like this "nowadays" isn't cool. ikuto should have been considered transgender from "progressive standard", yet it's clear the world will consider him as "her" and ikuto also consider "himself" as a "princess" because he had no choice. however he still prefer to be called by male pronoun anyway.
it's confusing, it's akward to readers. worst case scenario, you would call this bl bait or even queer bait although it's clearly doesn't have that malicious intent.
but i am tired of over serious story with mature people everywhere. it's not that this story isn't serious, but you can see the plot feel perfunctory or very anime-ish. but i need this kind of story right now!

i had always known the mother must have some stories, even her husband treated her badly... i am not saying what she did to rinko wasn't horrible, but i still symphatize with her.
i appreciate that she didn't physically abuse rinko despite her past, and that she was willing to change. what should have been done was that she should have gone to therapy, left rinko with other relatives, made some distance between them until she's ready, and more importantly told rinko about her feeling. however it's also almost impossible bc how horrible mental health issue is being cared for in Japan and she didn't have any relatives or anyone to help her figure stuff out as well.
if i am rinko, i will still have some resentment tho. but i am sure rinko will still be able to forgive her if they talk it out, or if rinko grew up she will understand more of life and adult circumstances, and simply given time. it's not bc the plot seem to be like that. it's just fortunately the mother wasnt physically abusive, for what i know, that's more of deal breaker, and physically abusive people are harder to change and to trust as well. not saying CEN isn't harmless bc i also experience that to some extent.
other stuff, I haven't formulate an opinion IF haruno somehow becomes romantically involved with rinko. IF that happens i am sure it will be in the future AFTER they no longer in contact for some time (or after haruno have no direct influence in the child's life anymore) and ofc AFTER rinko become an adult.
personally i have more tolerance with this especially if it's fiction. beside, although Rinko is a kid now, Haruno hasn't raised her when she was much younger. Haruno is never a father figure, more like a brother figure, and even then they both always clear that haruno is practically a stranger... so if in the future haruno's feeling change it will be "someone i used to babysit" not "someone i always thought as younger sister" well both are probably gross depends on person. but the younger-sibling-like-turned-lover are actually VERY common trope already.

i prefer the previous series than this, not bc it's the first but it just so much better. this one, the characters isn't likeable or interesting to me, just so so. and the story feel mid or even boring
