Honestly, I really don’t have any idea why I keep coming back to this Manwha. It is an unpleasant read and I mean that in the best way possible. Reading it makes me uncomfortable every single time without fail yet I still keep coming back.

That's the draw of horror stories. Good horror will not just shock you with blood and gore, but will terrorize you psychologically and emotionally until it feels like you're watching a train wreck. You want to look away but you just can't. It's the reason authors like Stephen King and Thomas Harris are so popular despite most of their work being really fucked up, and why it pisses me off when people shit on horror movies, novels, and manga by saying their only draw is "shock value" and there's no real writing.

I feel like I’m in the minority when I say that I actually like the fact that the story isn’t focusing on the main characters 100% of the time.
I’ve read too many straight up romance stories where the only thing that seems to matter in the narrative is the main character’s relationship. It’s really refreshing to read a story where stuff happens to people who aren’t the main pair. It makes the world feel bigger and more realistic.

This manga brings up a very interesting question. If someone does something horrible as a kid out of ignorance, does that person deserve to carry that guilt into their adulthood?
Hayato is not a bad person and I don’t even think he was a bad person as a kid. He acted out of ignorance and he was very cowardly. He didnt step in when his friend desperately needed help. He didn’t take responsibility for the mess that he caused until it was too late but... he was in middle school.
He sure as Hell payed for his actions. He’s not going to be forgetting what he did anytime soon and it cost him a very close friend. Seeing Noboru jump clearly still affects him to this day.
In my opinion Hayato deserves some sort of closure. He doesn’t need to pay for something he did as a kid for the rest of his life.

Out of ignorance? Were you reading the story? HAYATO was the one who CAUSED Noboru to be bullied, and he never did ANYTHING to step in and right his wrongs. He STILL hasn't done anything to make reparations. NOBORU was the one to reach out first.
The interesting question ACTUALLY is, and one you and others seem to agree the answer to is YES, does NOBORU deserve to be haunted by the actions of the boy he once loved, and now LOATHES, for the rest of his life? It's NOBORU who decides whether or NOT he wants to forgive him.
NOBORU was ALSO a child when all this happened. Did he deserve to be tormented by his bullies? HAYATO certainly seemed to think so, and he was the worst KIND of bully. And people who claim that Hayato was just a child at the time, so he should be forgiven, while forgetting to point out that Noboru, his VICTIM, was ALSO a child at the time, implicitly and EXPLICITLY agree that Noboru deserved it.
So stop with the victim blaming b.s. mmkay?

No one is victim blaming so why don't you calm down a little, Tammy-Two-Tits.
OP raised a very valid and well thought out question.
I've been reading this series since day 1 and have continuously come back to it and re-read it several times and from what I can tell you is that they all need to come to terms with one another.
As someone who nearly died for someone else trying to protect them only to be called an idiot for believing them at the end of the day I know what betrayal and hate can fuel. I literally carried that resentment for 12 years before I finally let it go.
The same is going on here. They are all carrying baggage from being hurt in some horrible way. Noboru feels resentment from being betrayed by someone he thought he could trust and being bullied. Hayato is traumatized from his best friend WHO HE KNEW HE HAD HURT GRAVELY jumping off a building in front of his very eyes.
They were BOTH children at the time and were BOTH hurt because of it. I'm not saying one did worse than the other or one was hurt more cause tbh I feel like if one of you commenters came at me with a "my gay friend tried to commit suicide in front of me out of revenge to traumatize me for the rest of my life" I would have to slap yo mama's for raising a damn dirty liar.
What I'm just trying to say is that they BOTH need to apologize THE RIGHT WAY. No more dodging the subject and putting everything out there. Hayato was terrified of being found out about his friendship with Noboru cause he was scared of being a victim as well. And you can't hit Japanese culture with a "just tell a teacher" cause they don't give a shit really. And if you tell an adult, unless the family is a progressive one, it'll do more harm than good to the victim. Hayato didn't have much of a choice being the powerless kid against his peers. Should he have shouted out what he did? No. He could've kept quiet but we all know what pressure can make humans do. Now, I will say this--Noboru didn't have to do what he did. What he did was out of pure hatred and rage. He INTENTIONALLY wanted to hurt Hayato. He PURPOSEFULLY took the leap and made sure Hayato had a front row seat to it cause he knew it would screw him up.
Just speaking personally but I feel like I myself would not be able to do something like that. I couldn't hurt someone that badly just cause I've seen what events to that degree can do to someone. It's fucked up watching someone die but even worse when you know that you were the cause of it. And we don't even know if little Hayato would have made a redemption or not cause after that event he was robbed of the chance to do anything properly.
And cut the "he could've contacted him" b.s.. you try talking to someone you used to hold dear but you know they hate you enough to kill themselves IN FRONT OF YOU years later. Please enlighten me on how you would start that opening letter, hm? (● ̄(エ) ̄●)

Hayato caused Noboru to be bullied but he did so in a way that was obviously unintentional. He was immature for his age. He was confused and thought Noburo was joking and he had no idea telling his friends would cause Noboru to be bullied. It was still his fault but he had no idea his actions would haunt him forever.
He didn’t step in when Noburu was being bullied. I can’t defend that. That was wrong of him. But I have also been guilty of being a bystander in situations where I should have stepped in. I don’t believe that lack of action is a crime so heinous that can never be forgiven.
I am also not victim blaming. Noboru is clearly not at fault. He was the victim in this. Just because I feel that Hayato deserves to forgive himself does not mean I somehow blame or dislike Noboru.

Honestly Fukusuke might have done more explicit damage to Shou due to being a creepy stalker and rapist but for some reason I’m even more angry at Riku. He knew about Fukusuke’s nature and did almost nothing to help Shou and just let everything play out.
What he said to Fukusuke might be accurate and biting but I’m sure as Hell not letting him off the hook for just abandoning my man Shou to his fate like that.

I know this is unlikely but I just want Jinha to think just for a second before jumping to conclusions. The picture looks bad but if you think about it for a second none of it proves that they had sex. Siwon is passed out and his lower half is not shown. It’s suspicious but Jinha just automatically jumped to the conclusion that Siwon cheated on him without even talking to him. He also know that the Chinese guy is a manipulator and liar but he believes him without a second though.
I wish Jinha would just fucking talk to Siwon and ask questions. I am so sick of these misunderstandings.
My thoughts so far are that Woojin is kind of a bastard who deserves whatever is coming to him but God, Hwon is fucking terrifying.
