the author is desperately trying to redeam th MLs by giving them some hurt feelings and a sudden comradery in taking care of MC?? it's weird to see them so meek, and it feels like they just had a change of personnality because now that MC have had enough, they have to be forgiven for the happy ending.
this is the problem with all those ''toxic'' bl.. the author write ms such terrible people and relationships because it makes readers react and read in hope of a good ending for the MC. but then it comes to a point where the characters are just irremediable but the author still want to write a happy ending when they're all suddently good and at peace.
if the ML have to have a redemption arc because the author can't bear to end the story with terrible people then at least make it believable!!
ML is too much of a simp.. i smell some yandere in him. they're in the middle of a war but he's that obsessed with a guy he's just met?? must be somewhat twisted.

tbh i like toxic manhwas and dark tropes don't bother me when the story is well written and they're actually used to move the plot.
but this one is just terrible. the whole plot of this is just ''cinderella trope with toxic rich top''. it's going nowhere. it tries to make him empathetic by making him meet dan's grandma but his character is so stuck in this cliche masculinist guy that nothing is happening. why even tell a story like this??
