Idk if you’ve already read this but “flip the script” is also good it’s not necessarily a arranged marriage but it is a contractual relationship with a traumatized MC and a cold ML. I’m not sure if it’s gonna fit your description perfectly, but it’s good.

It was written to leave a mark on the reader and the mangaka delivered. It is sad, yeah but the mangaka's decision to let him die is not bad imo. They probably felt guilty xkskns.
If you also think about it, the mother's anger probable root cause is how he got out of jail, given Japan is notorious on carrying executions annually.
My worry is how will Akitaka live after this, he's most likely to kill himself omg. Just plain plain sadness.
