Well the thing is sex and sexuality isn’t just black and white. Nor is it just a color palette. It’s a spectrum with lots of grey areas. Just becuz someone has intercourse with someone of the same sex doesn’t automatically make that person gay. Some people are demisexual and others are just having a conflicting queer moment in their lives and it’s not okay to just assume and label them, that’s beyond fucking rude and heteronormative. my mom is terrified for my safety because I’m moving into the city where it happened for work. I’m an adult now with my first real job trying to be independent but with that independence comes a fear that I am never truly safe. Not in my city. Not in my home because another fear my mother has is if I get a male housemate I might be in danger. Or even if men that I don’t know visit my other roommates. The sad thing is, I can’t argue with that with everything that happens.
I’ll have to be cautious but I will not be oppressed by the possibility of danger. I refuse to be afraid because this is my life to live.
So there were two points that stuck out to me from my own personal translations and a friend of mine who actually speaks it.
“Then you’ll spend more time with me and you’ll come to love me.” Is actually more nuanced and is actually something like, “if you knew how much I loved you, then one day you will fall in love with me.”
And “doyuun is a better person than I thought” is actually “I’m a better person than you think.” Which makes more sense.
