in the previous series he was constantly being upset on how attached he was becoming to his brother's lover. he was always dressed cutely and was essentially spoiled rotten and even that wasn't enough for him. He didn't tell her directly on what happened to him, but he did tell her he was uncomfortable being chained up in the dark and she ignored him and kept him chained up in the dark to "break" him of his trauma. I think you calling him toxic because he's deeply traumatized is pretty messed up... Of course he's constantly comparing her to his abuser. His abuser was the first person to introduce him to bdsm and someone he can deem as a friend as well up until he abused him. This all happened to him when he was in middle school so OF COURSE it's sticking to him. So when she does something that doesn't sit right with him, his mind is of course going to go back to his abuser. Honestly I personally don't think he should've forgiven her so easily.
I think the person who posted that comment probably doesn’t 100% understand what a toxic person is or just uses the word often even if it doesn’t apply. He isn’t toxic, he is traumatized. No one owes anyone an explanation to their trauma even partners. Yes, mistake were made on both end but if anything her “blindness/innocence/unawareness/ borderline idiotic tendencies” (any of these applies) is the main issue. She has great intentions but continues to miss the mark that it’s problematic.

He is not toxic, try to reread the story, he went through a very serious trauma, you clearly have never experienced something like this so I don't blame you for not understanding. But let me tell you that a trauma like this is a lot more serious that "I'm afraid of dark" it's caused by many psychological problems and it can be so bad that can lead to suicide. A toxic person is someone that cares more for themselves, a person that has a relationship only to feel better ignoring their partner's problems.
How she should know? She always cares about him. She did her best about everything. He always cared about not hurt him or damage him. If he didnt say anything to her how she could know? I mean.. Yes some people have trauvmas but nobody can't know until you told them. Especially when he gave mixed signals about sm plays.
He had told her about his trauma, not with many details but he did. Also when they were in the dark room he told her that he can't handle anymore because he is scared but as she said herself she didn't do anything to help him. After a time she tied him up and leaved him in a dark room, even when he yelled at her that he does not want this. I don't think that someone is wrong, actually they are both wrong and right at the same time. But I think that this is enough to forgive what he did. She triggered his trauma two times even if he has told her about that, he has. It's not unknown for her. People suicide from traumas so I find it a least stupid to judge someone's behaviour that has been triggered under trauma, it's pointless and very disrespectful. Even if she love him that doesn't mean that he can't have negative emotions. Relationships are not unicorns and sweets, they also have thunders that can change the relationship, break it or make it more stronger. I think that in this case it will make it stronger than before.
