and orpheus tells ophelia pretty clearly here that he’s not in love with his cousin and he only sees her as family. so, i don’t know. it’s not like he’s not being clear about anything. in the first chapter as well, diana tried to tell ophelia that their relationship isn’t like that (thank goodness, since they’re cousins). i feel like they’ve tried to make it clear enough that ophelia is kind of just jumping to conclusions and blowing the misunderstandings into even larger proportions.
i agree that it’s wrong of him to give diana so much attention, to the point where it would cause this misunderstanding in the first place. but since they’ve already tried to be clear with her on multiple occasions that it’s not romantic, she should have fought with him about the amount of attention he gives her. not immediately jumped to the conclusion that they’re having an affair, especially when they’re clearly telling her they aren’t.
it should have been more of a “you need to prioritize your marriage” fight instead of a “i think my husband is having an affair with his cousin even though they’re telling me they aren’t so now i’m going to pretend to be evil to trick him into divorce” situation. i’ll update when i get to chapter ten though.
edit (and spoilers): okay i got to chapter nine where the big climax/reveal has happened and...yeah my opinion hasn’t changed much. ophelia let herself be swayed by the misunderstanding the servants had of diana and orpheus’ relationship, and they did try to clear it up with her, but she decided on her own that...they were lying? for whatever reason? all because she...saw them together and orpheus looked very happy around diana. i mean...they’re family so they have a good relationship. it’s not even like she saw them kiss, he was just smiling at her.
so i have no idea why everyone in the comments are getting on orpheus’ case and acting like he’s straight up awful. i mean, yes he could have done much more to clear up their understanding, but...ophelia genuinely didn’t want to listen. she made up her mind about their secret illicit affair and literally nothing would get in her way. so, yeah. wow this was long, but i just had to get that out there.
plenty of cheaters deny outright that they’re cheating. my sister caught her ex IN BED with another woman and the bitch had the audacity to say they were "just sleeping together" "doing nothing wrong" "why are you overreacting". so yeah i get why Ophelia didn’t believe them, like her husband has never looked at her like that as far as she knows. The servants making her out to be the third wheel is also one of the reasons she couldn’t believe their words. also Diana already admitted that she took advantage of Ophelia’s kindness and stick to him knowing everything. She is the villain here, not Ophelia who simply misunderstood. Also after everything Ophelia thinks she’s hurt him too much so she’s feeling guilty about it and can’t get back with him just like that. Not to mention all the servants in the mansion hate her. Orpheus is also at fault, on par with btch Diana. because he stuck with the btch even after he saw his marriage being destroyed. He couldn’t choose and that also fucks me up because if he loved her so much why couldn’t he take more definite steps other than just saying "it’s a misunderstanding" like a parrot while another woman hangs on his arm 24/7? He was the most coward of them all. because at least Diana was ready to risk everything for her own love and felt guilty about Ophelia. Ophelia wanted to sacrifice her love for Orpheus’s happiness. Orpheus? he just stood there not refusing anyone. worst kind of man ever.
i’ve been scrolling through the comments forever trying to find one that says the archduke’s name because i couldn’t remember what it was. everyone just calls him archduke so i was beginning to forget that was his title and not his birth-name (it’s alexandro)
i don’t know i just feel like next to soo-young he’s also been getting the short end of the stick. i hope if we continue to see him things start working out for him, i feel bad everytime i see him :(
Ohh fuck how did I forget that?? HAHAHA anyway thanks~ DANE
it okay lmao i only knew his name because i saw it in another comment they don’t actually say his name that much in the story so i haven’t been able to remember it
