I have a very hard time to like, forgive or sympathize with John...
I think he kinda got off easy when you fought against Sera who was still quite soft on him. He was quite very entitled, sadistic and whiny.
So you keep hurting others just because you feel so guilty and unworthy etc...

Bur Arlo She IS also Your friend.. yet you abandoned her to John and then complain of him going mental..
Also the "corectional officer" definetly messed with Johns mind.. he not only showed him instances of him hurting ppl but also physicaly punished him for it for months.. and he nit picked the "bad" behavior and memories and has supressed the good or better ones.. He wasnt rehabilitating John.. he was making a Time Bomb..
That evil god is of the few most likeable, grounded and modest isekai protagonist I ve ever seen!
I personally feel more invested in his motivation/goal compared to the other already popular male isekai characters.
Rooting for the villains knowing that the outside world/the human world is full of assholes... Another example: Maou no Hisho
Power Fantasy Stories like Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken and Overlord are about former lonely miserable salarymen being reincarnated as very op deities - They both have this larger than life ruler vibes - One is a noble hero and the other is a priveledged villain.
One of the differences between these two op MCs is that Rimu had to gain experiences and train to become unbeatable but still very blessed with special cheats and powerful allies (Dragon, skimpy Demon God Girl) while Ainz has already everything he needs to easily conquer the world and brutally mercilessly defeats his opponents who are not all evil jerks.
And I wish both of these stories would have less sexualized female character designs and not the trope "more than one devoted girl being crazy about the isekai hero".
his simple kind personality makes it all the more interesting tbh imo he's somehow kinda hard to read which makes the moment where he just shows his apathetic side regarding cruel actions like a natural disaster makes you think he really is an evil god
Of all dark isekai or fantasy stories about the MC being a Skeleton this is my favourite.
I really prefer this Skeleton Soldier over Ainz Ooal Gown/Overlord.
To be frank, I can't really sympathize with the character Ainz at all because he is a former bored lonely miserable salaryman who suddenly becomes an already invincible deity and is given an overpowered status, abilities, kingdom and army. And he has two devoted/obsessive crazy demonic girls always fighting over him.
Now he spend his time behaving like a terrifying mighty villain, conquering the whole New World, enslaving all races and making his followers and mostly unlikable generals happy...
The only character I liked in this story is the demon butler Sebas Tian.
I relate more to the motivations and portrayal of the characters in
Maou no Hisho and Isekai Apocalypse MYNOGHRA.
I also find it creepy that the Uke in the first chapter short story is 16 years old...

I ve read the novel update spoilers and I still have a dislike for Dion:

"Honestly, the ending feels kind of incomplete. The main storyline ends at chapter 209, which is when the Nyx doll escaped. Roxana, Cassis, and Jeremy go to chase him down, a few quotes appear, then bam, the end. The second side story does continue from this point, but I find it weird that it's a side story and not part of the main story. Nevertheless, it does give a better closure...sort of lol.
So in the end, Roxana goes back to Agriche to co-lead it with Jeremy. Cassis does have to return to Pedalian so the two of them are currently in a long-distance relationship. Dion remains as Roxana's slave, dog, whatever you want to call him. There's no marriage or children. The author has confirmed to release more short stories but for now, this is pretty much it."

"Apparently, Deon is expressionless since childhood but he originally has a fairly neural good relationship with Asil. He didn't particularly like him but Asil seems closer to him than other half-brothers of that time, he even eat Asil's candy that was given to him (although at first, he threw any candy Asil gave to him, calling it trash). But suprise and not surprisingly, he became cold when Landt caught Deon passing an adult level obstacle uninjured when helping Roxie (No one realize Roxie entered the maze). "It also mentioned in side story that Landt actually ask Deon's oppinion on Asil but his answer led Landt to issue the first kill order to Deon. Roxanna originally thought Deon is someone she can still try and get along despite his direct involvement in the execution (she suspect the maze insident from those years back), but when servants tell how it is issued, she shut herself from ever attempt to get close to Deon or any other half-siblings ever again (except our border-sadist cinnamonroll Jeremy of course). This is why Roxanna can't truly forgive Deon nor does Deon at that time care how his words affect the outcome."
To me, Dion is a fucked up broken creep who has some incestuous feelings vibes. But he is the lesser evil than patriarch father Lant, still.
By the way, that scum Lant gets killed by Cassis's hand :)
And despite knowing Dion's background story, I don't feel sorry or care about this dark alphahole at all. He should be gone for good!
Why are there people Villainsimping for him after everything he did? They even want to ship him and Roxanna so badly...
For example: Killing in cold blood Asil, throwing Roxanna's mother in danger and killing Cassil's men who were just trying to find him.
Would they still adore Dion, if he doesn't look like the typical ideal good looking novel/drama bad boy? I don't think so.
I think he got off a little way to easy.
There is no question of accountability or restoritive justice.
Redemption just happened to him due to Roxanna who never gave up her humanity or crossed a line.
Of all Roxanna's siblings it is Jeremy who do lots of atonement, reforming and rebuilding.
Dion is just hanging around and still bothering obsesively his sister /the FL.
