Why the authors make their supposed smart competent FLs always fall in love with very troublesome guys that will put them more in danger...
You already know the trope: FL is in a precarious situation, makes a deal with powerful alphahole, wants to leave asshole after building sth for herself and living a peaceful comfortable life, tsundere ML becomes obsessed with her and starts lovebombing her and at the end she is in love with him...( ̄∇ ̄")
I understand that she was sold against her will and needed to ally herself with a dangerous psycho. But it is beyond my understanding that she then throws away all her plans and agency for a (toxic) man!
Everytime a FL almost reached her goal, she becomes lovestruck stupid...
I think That manwha story tries too hard to be like BEWARE OF THE VILLAINESS!
The problem is that the original novel is much more serious, darker and messed up.
The MC isn't supposed to be a funny clumsy strong bitch but someone who has dark (suicidal) thoughts but still keep going.
And her first encounter with her ML at the balcony was more touchingly sad than ridiculous embarassing.
TROPE: Almost falling off from a balcony due to your own carelessness...:
Everything was a Mistake and The Viridescent Crown.
Guess who saves them in the last minute...
Queen Bitch Melissa isn't even that stupidly clumsy...

This is my seconde favourite grounded BL manhua after HERE U ARE.
Are there any other good BL Chinese Comic Stories that don't display toxic tropes?
Well there is the manhua FRAGILE RELATIONSHIP but......
Let's just say the ML/Seme is so pathetic immature and sad. We see him suffering for his indecisiveness about his feelings for the Uke but after over 150 chapters you starting to get frustrated and bored about his lack of progress.
I am more into Mangas, Manhwas and Western Webtoons due to their diverse style and qualility but "Here U Are" is one of the very few manhuas I really appreciate.
I was surprised that this story was created in China since many manhuas stories have often soapy convoluted over the top storylines and larger than life characters.
And when it comes to any Chinese BL stories they are often censored.
Of course, Mangas and Manhwas also have bizarre cringy narratives but I get the impression that many manhuas currently have less quality control and are more rushed + overproduced.
Here U Are is very unique, grounded, intime and relatable.
They both have so much potential together but the author give the tyrannical dark haired ML the best special treatment ever...
It's no surprise that he gets everything he wants while the FL no matter how strong she is and 2nd ML no matter how great he is both lose at the end.
Why do FLs have to suffer for or because of the bloody tsundere ML?
I recently argued with a commentator why I prefer Melissa as a main character over the other FLs who are doormats, living targets or helpless damsel in distress in other fantasy stories without their MLs like Ran from The Viridescent Crown as an example.
The commentator defended Ran saying the comparisson betweeen them is unfair and that she can't do much like Melissa because Ran doesn't have the same advantages or priveledges like mighty bitch Melissa but she makes the best of her situation.
Melissa wouldn't even survive or succeed in Ran's world, they argue.
I agree that the author wrote her FL Ran in a very restricted way and put her in disadvantaged position which leaves her very likely no room to become powerful enough to retaliate/fight back against anyone. The ML of course has always the power/superiority to go against all odds.
I didn't like how this person/stranger wrote to me and feeling attacked how I argued back. I guess we both didn't like that our chosen MCs were undermined by each other.
We had an intense Character breakdowns and thrown each other counter arguments until it was just too exhausting to continue...
Maybe I should have just replied at the beginning with the reasonanable chill sentence:
"This is your honest opinion and I agree to disagree."
SO MY QUESTIONS IS:
Is it wrong to say I prefer strong female protagonists like Melissa over FLs like Ran?
Was it wrong to make comparissons and criticize why other transmigrated FLs are so weak and inferior than the tsundere ML?
Should I have considered more the written circumstances of FLs always at the receiving end/weaker than Melissa?
Or is the whole argument about the preferene and legitimacy of certain fictional characters just pointless a waste of time and we shouldn't take it too serious + just let it go?
In my opinion, I keep my opinions to myself because when someone disagrees with it and argues, it becomes too heated for no reason, our opinions can be both right and wrong in a sense of we like this about the FL but they would say otherwise and give their points, in the end its honestly what you prefer because no one else is reading it in your place
saw this, so i decided to respond. no, it’s in no way wrong to prefer a certain archetype over another, i think everyone has their preferences. but i don’t think that means they should be placed higher than each other. i do think circumstances matter, since these women are being transmigrated into different cultures and time periods that are unfamiliar, with this world having its own set of rules. i don’t think it’s inherently wrong for a female lead to be weak; they’re vulnerable and them unwillingly being put in a different world where they have to survive is extremely stressful and pressuring. both melissa and tan are now characters of this fictional world, where they’re aware of their fates as being killed. not only this, but they’re usually from korea and live within the modern age. they’re not used to traditional western customs, nor royal society. not only this, but they have no comfort or anyone to rely on. they don’t know anyone from their world, anyone who knows anything about the modern age, so it’s not uncommon that they break down and become weak. ultimately, this is a fictional story; we cant put ourselves in their shoes since we have never been thrust into this situation. in fact, most people would be weak when put in the same situation, it’s unfamiliar to them and they have no one to help them overcome it mentally. that’s why female leads like melissa are so loved by readers—she stands out with her strong mentality and isn’t one to be swayed. i believe since melissa had the same attitude and confidence, also with her being reincarnated when she was of adult age, is what helped her. ran had been living in that world since she was a child, though she was an adult mentally. the societal pressures of young girls during that era were intense, which is what couldve swayed her personality to be reliant on men. putting this aside, i’ll end it off by saying that it’s okay to like melissa, there’s nothing wrong with that. but when stereotyping female leads like ran, like the other person said, it’s important to take into consideration what made them become that way and how their solitude in a world of unfamiliarities has shaped them as a person
Thanks for the feedback!
After reading your answers, now I have to think about the MC/FL Roxana Agriche from "The Way to Protect the Female Lead's Older Brother"... :) She is crass.
Another beloved popular characters would be Sasha + Rebecca from "The Pet Of The Villainess" and Tia from "The Villainess Lives Twice".
In my opinion you are right that is my opinion that this current MC that we’re talking about from the story she actually would win in both worlds that is if they both still have the knowledge from either the previous life or writing of the same story then centered in the story and it’s not as restricting as you think she could i’ve learned sportsmanship and if she felt really that bad if she really knew about the crystals she could’ve use them to her and gain to learn how to actually real magic to become not just powerful so she can do what she needs to do but also become sneaky to know about everything that has to do with the family and just I don’t know go into those rooms where the records are change a couple things given the actual current head before he died some knowledge and after she died she legitimately could’ve done a bunch of her stuff she is very strict in some other areas after everything goes down I’m talking about
I lost respect for the MC Ran when she got drunk and almost fell off from a balcony and the superior ML had to save her AGAIN... He keeps saving her on several occasions.
She really can't take care of herself, does she?
That means she is actually a typical naive clumsy fragile FL despite demonstrating some competence ...
She has been much longer than Melissa in her novel world but she often ends up as an victim.
Actually I’m not against him being strong and saving her in a couple occasions but if feels kind of like a superiority complex at this point is the reason why I’m not as into it at first when she was baking accomplishes it and was like I wanna try hard I wanna do this I want to do this and I legitimately want to take care of this position for him and I know that he’s the ML but like it’s becoming too much if they really were going to have a relationship I prefer when the relationship feels a little bit more even it feels to more like she there forcing her into the role of a damsel in distress When she has proven that she clearly isn’t in many ways but it’s just like it’s two forced
The ML despite being the typical dark haired tortured overtalented ML is actually fine and respectful and friendly towards Ran.
But the power dynamic between these two is really problematic.
The author probably likes seeing her FL suffer just to show dark the fantasy novel world is and how great Edward Cullen - I mean Yustaf is ;)

Her ex scum had a more manlier short haircut in the promo oneshot.
