Do you think the Biftas should have been more severely punished?
I think I prefer the premise and characters of "Monster Duke's Daughter" over "Suddenly Became a Princess One Day" because Lottie is much more of cute badass than Athy (reborn modern korean girl) and the Monster Duke does not try to and kill his own daughter more than one time (Claude + Athy first lake scene). I like the art style quality of "Suddenly Became a Princess One Day" but I do not like the logic of this story. Many people keep praising this story but all I see is a fucked up asshole of father who amost kill Athy on several occasions and the author excuses his behaviour because he is so beautiful, was tortured and controlled by his alive older brother the whole time who also caused his recent memories loss... And Athy is the typical self-sacrificing FL who has to keep suffering until the ML/Father is completely reformed...
I am so glad Lottie doesn't need to kiss the ass of a tyrant to survive and then develops feelings for her abuser/killer. Seen that toxic trope too often enough!
I understand. It is still a NO GO for me that an arrogant bloodthirsty father almost kills his own daughter, only sparing her because she caught his interests and then gets the daughter's love... I don't have to name you the other "Reborn as a neglected daughter of a shitty father tyrant king"!
There are even worse Novel/Webtoon fathers...:
In "Actually, I was the Real One" that cold hearted cruel neutral of MC doesn't do anything and he still gets away with everything. And the MC still stays and kinda forgives him at the end of the novel!
In "Please I Swear I won't Bother You" the MC is still so helpless against her biased father!
At least in "Please Throw Me Away" the MC has the guts to talked back at her abusive brother and manipulating father even though it took several chapters with the help of the dark knight in shining black armor that keeps saving her...
Shitty fathers also in:
The Young Lady is A Royal Chef (I really dislike all the male members)
When The Villainess Loves (Incompetent father doesn't let MC go)
Momoiro Heaven (Manga - Dead beloved Playboy father leaves his family with nothing but debts and MC has to fall in love with a young playboy with issues and rejecting 2nd ML)
I really really hope that the MC does not ever forgive and stays with her deadbeat father in this manwah version!
FUCK NO. I WAS FINE I WAS SLEEPING FINE KNOWING SHE WAS GONNA GET OUT OF THAT HOUSEHOLD. FUUUUUUUUUUCK but still I can't blame her that man was her father and unless she started thinking of him as not her father and literally fully cut ties with him sentimental ties would cease to exist but I guess it was still there but.. FUCKKKK WHY GIRL I WAS ROOTING FOR YOU WE WERE ALL ROOTING FOR YOU HOW DARE YOU.
The blue haired entitled prince from "The Abandoned Empress" or this black haired whiny Emperor "Lady To Queen"? They are both stupid royal brats craving for confirmation.
It is very frustrating to see a strong willed capable FL trying very hard to overcome her trauma and any obstacles in her life only ending up falling for her arrogant biased childish murderer (again)!!!!
There are other novels (search in NovelUpdate) with similar plots - ML kills FL + She keeps suffering until he is reformed/perfect.
Here are one of the most used absurd excuses for the ML:
Missunderstood, Abused, Cursed, Drugged, Manipulated, Brainwashed or Forced by other political circumstances.
So once the FL starts to emancipate herself, the ML who caused her pain and death becomes somehow interested in her and pursues her until she is wore down/touched by his persistence + charm.
What kind of fucked up message is that?!
honestly that's why I love http://www.mangago.zone/read-manga/may_i_ask_for_one_final_thing/ its so satisfying she punches the people who treat her like trash
Indeed. At the very least I understand why readers might like Lady to Queen. It's not THAT bad, even if it remains questionable.
Abandoned Empress however? They clearly have no critical mind whatsoever to think that it's a good story or a representation of pure and fated love. I won't kink shame, they can enjoy it all they want. But at least they should admit just how fucked up the story is.
I like Scarlet until I realized sth very annoying...
The older brother of her trash ex-fiancé/ML is a bored sadistic schemer whom the author gave more superiority than the MC.
That writer doesn't allowed Scarlet to punch and really insult that asshole perfect prince who keeps teasing and making fun of her!
I keep asking why why why is she so weak in front of that ML!
I like to recommend thse two stories to you:
The Villainess' Slow Prison Life Began With Her Broken Engagement (Novel or Manga)
https://www.novelupdates.com/series/her-royal-highness-seems-to-be-angry/
There is a manga adaptation but it does not follow the whole orignal plot faithfully because the MC is in the original novel less sexualized, far more unapologetic and badass.
No King, ex-fiance prince or her whole shitty family can even touch her.
Even before he was drugged and manipulated by a minister/duke from a hostile political fraction, he was already an obnoxious shithead who hated Tia because she is talented and loved by her own parents. And even though Tia's mother took care of him in his younger years he still has the audacities to dislike the MC who is the daughter of your beloved nanny! And when he realized that he fell love with Tia, he still keeps mistreating her!!!
Hey Ruve, You idiot; Shouldn't you take your anger out on your cunt father and try communicate peacefully with your chosen fiancee?
He was probably not in love with her in the first timeline in fact. He did not know her at all and only regretted when he learned that she did not plan to overtrown Ji-eun and that she cared about him after all. He love the "idea" of her but not the actual her. He had to ask himself who she was because he had no clue. He keep calling her concubine and bitch in his mind and so on. For second Ruve, same thing. He like the emotional her only, the one who cater to his ego. He only started to behave decently when he started wanting. He literaly did nothing after putting her into a comatose state! And so many more...
Here’s what I’m saying, I think the first life Tia lived the ML was definitely worse and everything he did was inexcusable than this story but if we’re talking second life with Tia and this story I personally think this ML gives me a headache. The other story also gives me a headache but it doesn’t come solely from the prince. Also I dropped the Abandoned Empress so I’m sorry if what I remembered was wrong. (〜 ̄△ ̄)〜
Second Ruve gave me way more headaches by being a self-intintled prick and a hypocrite. He is not that different for First Ruve. It's just that this time around he stopped being prejudicied against Tia. You only need to see how he treated the Princesses and Ji-eun to see that. He is still a prick (and his very off puting POV show it plainly), just not toward Tia. Worst of all, he is everything he hated about Tia (gloomy, self-entitled, thinking he deserve everything, play the victim card when he don't get his way, look down on others...). Talk about irony.
Same. Funny enough, I hate more the way it was done that the endgame itself. If the author intended to take this road she should not have thrown away the trauma, victim-blame Tia, made the other potential ML so much more appealing (even with one being a yandere), make Tia solely change and take action and so on. Also, a love story can have a love without basis, but NOT when the ML is the past abuser and the main character was given the power to change fate of all things. What a mess.
You are so right about second Ruve!
MLs like Ruve never takes NO for an answer, don't they?
Why is it that everytime the MC/FL gets a second chance and starts to become more emancipated/open-minded, the (ex) scum fiance prince becomes so interested/OBSESSED in her...
You should see how many manhuas about being reborn or transmigration also use the same logic.
That trope doesn't make sense to me at all!
At least In "Father, I Don't Want to Get Married!" the MC ends with a better man and her former entitled egomaniac ex-lover prince ends up dead :)
For the same plot but with the MC who choose to take revenge on the ex instead, I don't have anything in mind. But for great love story with second chance reincarnation or transmigration, there is actually a lot.
Death is the only ending for the Villainess
The Villainess turn the hourglass
The Villainess Lives Twice
Please throw me away
Common sense's for a Duke's daughter
Empress of Another world.
For completely different plot but still masterpieces:
Spice and Wolf
Light and shadow (except for the 4 first chapters. We don't talk about these. The rest of the story is great however)
Kusuriya no hitorigoto.
Funny enough, for the twists of the "return with the abuser" trope that i can think of are from chineses novels. "Beauty and the beast (not sure about the title) for instance is a story in wich the abuser is the one who is send back in time (the victime do regain her memories toward the middle of the novel however).

I am surprised as you are. Either the spoilers were wrong, out of context or the manwah webtoon version changed it.
